Feeling more confident today. Leeds look wounded.
Ampadu will be their best player.
Dreading this. Leeds look Premier league bound.
Ampadu will be their worst player.
Ampadu wont be their worst player but even with their injuries wont be their best.
MATCH FACTS
- Leeds are winless in their last five league games against Cardiff (DM L4) having won three on the bounce against the Bluebirds prior to this run.
- Cardiff have lost just one of their last 12 visits to Elland Road in the Football League (W7 D4), with that defeat coming in November 2015. In their last league trip to Elland Road back in December 2019, the Bluebirds managed to come from three goals down to draw 3-3.
- When kicking off a league campaign at home, Leeds have lost just one of their last 19 games (W13 D5), winning eight of their last 10 MD1 fixtures at Elland Road (D1 L1).
- Cardiff have won their opening league game in just two of the last 10 seasons (D4 L4), with those victories coming in 2017-18 (1-0 vs Burton) and last term (1-0 vs Norwich).
- Leeds won 12 of their last 14 Championship matches in their last spell in the division in 2019-20 (D1 L1) on their way to winning the league under Marcelo Bielsa - the only side to beat them in that sequence was Cardiff, a 2-0 victory in June 2020.
Enjoyed that, well done Nigel. Spoke very well but the bugger has built my hopes up a bit........a good thing? Or a bad thing?
Anyone else been awake for ages? Went to sleep too early last night in preparation for today’s long trip, killing time waiting for the alarm to go off:hehe:
Team pretty much as expected.
No Ojo and Bowler straight in
Surprised by that given the friendlies
Alnwick; Ng, Goutas, McGuinness, O'Dowda; Wintle, Ralls; Bowler, Ramsey, Grant; Ugbo.
Subs: Luthra, Romeo, Etete, Collins, Adams, Meite, Simpson, Rinomhota, Robinson
Cardiff City XI: Alnwick; Ng, Goutas, McGuinness, O'Dowda; Wintle, Ralls; Bowler, Ramsey, Grant; Ugbo.
Subs: Luthra, Romeo, Etete, Collins, Adams, Meite, Simpson, Rinomhota, Robinson.
Maybe slightly surprised Ugbo got the nod. Otherwise as hoped for. (No Ojo in the squad!)

Callum Robinson is still carrying a bit of a knock from that Wycombe game. Very happy to have a Weston here, but I’m not confident in Ugbo starting.
Would prefer Etete if Robinson isn’t fit to start.
No Ojo in the squad is interesting.
Compared with our starting lineup for last season's opener:
Allsop; Romeo, Ng, Kipré, Collins; Wintle, Rinomhota, Ojo, Sawyers, O'Dowda; Watters
Subs: Ralls, Sang, Tanner, Nelson, Whyte, Alnwick, Harris
and the season before that:
Phillips; McGuinness, Flint, Nelson, Ng, Bagan; Pack, Ralls, Bacuna, Giles;
Collins
Subs: Morrison, Moore, Wintle, Smithies, Colwill, Harris, Bowen
I'd say we look stronger, certainly in attack and the bench.
Swap Robinson for Ugbo and its our strongest line up id say.
So nervous for this. Going into the complete unknown.
With their line up I’m pretty sure we’re going to concede so I hope we’ve got something figured out up front. Not feeling confident. Think we’ll lose by 2 or more
Me too. I don't think our squad is built for attrition. With the 2021/2 team and to a lesser extent 2022/3, we could often weather the storm for the 1st 30 minutes and frustrate the opposition - something I think we would have to do against Leeds today. Could be pleasantly surprised, but my head says 2-0 at best..
No Colwill in the squad. Injury or just not made the cut? Fairly happy with that line up but not expecting a win. Would be v happy with nicking a draw.
Come on City, please put in a good shift I beg!
Four Ramsay stray passes already.
Grant looks totally off it to me.
Living dangerously.....and playing from the back gives me jitters.....

1-0 Bluebirds!
Great ball by Ralls great run by O Dowda and somehow we are winning.
Bowler. Composed finish.
Well I'll eat my hat!
O'Dowda could have had a sandwich the time he had....
Whoosh
O'Dowda our best player by quite some way again, great composure by Bowler and Ugbo as well to be fair
Feck Ralls injured Adams coming on.
Apparently the players like our manager's approach before the game. Instead of bombarding them with information, they get everything in concise bullet points.
