One of the weaknesses of a back 3 is that you can end up with centre backs defending against wingers in the channels, they really don't want to be there. Neither of their wide centre backs were comfortable at any point with Meite, Grant and Tanner running at them

True. We stretched them as well, something we haven't done in years, probably since Dave Jones was here.

Yep. Did a job on them in midfield as well, Grimes & Fulton were anonymous

Also helped that Ng and Collins were high and wide, we’ve stopped them coming inside and it killed them. They had so much joy. Swansea were so poor, though. First time in ages we’ve wanted it more and went for the kill from the first minute.

Yup. Under previous managers we've tucked in, tried to make the pitch narrow. Yesterday we were prepared to leave space, trust players to work things out. Swansea are ****ing rhubarb, but we played really well during the 2nd half, a bit of intensity and a willingness to win. Ramsey has made such a difference, he makes himself available in positions no other Cardiff player has since god knows when. It really makes a difference.

His standards will have rubbed off on the rest of them too. Ramsey gets the ball in tight spaces, and he comes away with the ball. You can just give him it and he keeps it. He's so good. I'm so pleased for him, too. I cannot be objective about him but I am delighted he's playing so well.
I also think Wintle parking himself helps Siopis. Siopis needs to be all over the pitch, when Ralls plays instead of Wintle (with Siopis) we leave some enormous gaps in the centre of the park.

Can’t really say we went for the kill from the first minute, the first half was a very poor standard of football from both teams with misplaced passes and very little creativity, only shot on target in the first half from both sides was Meite’s shot in injury time. We greatly improved in the 2nd half , they , if anything, got worse.

The intent was there, though. We tidied things up in the second half. We took the game to them even if we didn't do much with it. It is a massive change in mentality from past games.
Re: Ollie Tanner - our greatest derby goal in many seasons
Me to. We were 1-3 down with less than 10 mins left. Peter Kitchen scored and the rest is history. Yesterday was as good though.

it really was school boy defending, if it was one of my girls doing it, I would have though " do we not teach you anything "
he of course invited Ollie to go outside him, you would, you wouldnt want a player cutting side you, but he did it in such a way that it left the door so far open for Ollie to cut inside and the defender was done

You must be great fun at funerals.

I wasn't saying Tanner's was a better goal, but under the circumstances for him to do that, I think was better than Beller's finish.
Re: Ollie Tanner - our greatest derby goal in many seasons
On the point of it being poor defending, I’d say Tymon almost made up Tanner’s mind for him, still a fine finish though.

The first touch to control a great ball from Collins was superb for someone fresh on and in pretty grim conditions

Mentioning the conditions, I remember saying to Mrs HaB with about 10 minutes to go and it was lashing down, if the pitch had got waterlogged and the ref stopped the game, there would have been 20,000+ volunteers to clear the pitch of water, unlike at Rotherham last season.

That was a truly fantastic goal - a very short run up and a blast from miles out. After staring defeat in the face, it sparked mayhem on the Bob Bank.

Re: Ollie Tanner - our greatest derby goal in many seasons
I hope we use him right moving forward. Don’t think he’s ready to start games yet but bringing him on in any game at all square is going to get the fans excited and he will want the ball every time
