In my weaker moments I do wonder if we have "bent" some rules to recruit like we have and if we haven't then hopefully we will be reluctant to share any perceived success

What is Pearson’s illness that some have mentioned ?
I know he was on crutches, I just thought it was a leg/ankle problem !

Bristol Sport, I remember reading sbout this. Bristol Rugby Club play at Ashton Gate, what are their crowds like?
Don't know I'm afraid. Apparently Tinnion is, staying on as DOF. And Rowett is favourite gif the manager's job.

They've got a bit of cheek bearing in mind the amount of money he has ploughed into the club though. I think he spent going on for £50 million on their ground alone. The Pearson affair has tipped them over the edge.
This is another potential distraction from the football side of things

Subject to a legal challenge since that article.

Gary Rowett appears to be a pair of safe hands. Not someone to get the pulse going but he done OK st Millwall.

I thought they might go for John Eustace. Whoever it is they need to present the new manager as an upgrade on Pearson to get the fans back on side.

Well the few fans I've heard from definitely don't see Rowett in that light.

I wouldn't be surprised if the way we signed Siopis is prevented from happening in future. Then again nothing has been done about the way Watford operate.

That was the one I was thinking of particularly as he took a bit of a hit to join us apparently and I wonder why he did that unless he was or will be compensated for his "loss"

They're going for John Eustace apparently.

I think in the embargo position we're in that the league would be looking very closely at every deal to make sure it complies. It would be monumentally stupid to jeopardise our future, particularly for 1 player such as with Siopis. I'd rather think that the club OK'd it with the league before hand.
I'd also like to think he in particular came to follow a manager he knows and has worked with, and also there is still some kudos for foreign players to playing in the English league. I also think that generally wages may be relatively higher here.

Contractual buy out clauses aren't unusual, in fact they are quite common in some leagues, e.g. Spain.
Siopis clearly had one that he thought worthwhile exercising to join us.

They're not mandatory.
In the EU players have a right to terminate subject to certain restrictions even where they do not have a specific clause.
In Spain that right is extended further under their laws although where there is no specific clause the Labour Court will determine the buy out value.

Hopefully their owner keeps the purse strings tightly shut and he keeps them pissing in the wind.
