Talk about ducking questions....
He did say Karlan Grant's injury isn't a serious one so that was of interest at least

Re: SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY v CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
The news that Grant is ok is great. There is also no WBA recall clause. He won’t play Sat, neither will Goutas who has been back in Greece for a few days due to his family bereavement.
I would’ve very surprised if only 1 or 2 who started v QPR start. Perhaps McGuiness, Wintle.

Re: SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY v CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
I'd rest all our key players.
Runnarsson
Romeo Fagan-Walcott Pazo Campbell
Tanner Adams J Colwill Evans
R. Colwill
Ugbo
Obviously no natural left back if Panzo plays CB. So I've put Cambell there. I guess we could play with Panzo, Fag-Wal and Romeo as a back three and Tanner and Evans as wingbacks.

Couldn't agree more and a bit sad that there arent more on this thread agreeing with that sentiment.
Its one more match FFS, if anyones hanging then give them a rest fair enough but play everyone from the first team whos fit. And dont rotate the keeper!

I agree although I would rather Runnerson or Turner played and ideally NG to have a rest but options are very limited in defence especially left back.

I think we will soon find out if Runnarsson ever plays for us again. Don't believe a word from Bulit about him having a knock.

Personally I don’t want anyone having a ‘rest’. A professional football club’s one aim is to win football matches. I’m sick of the disconnect with the cup from the club and fans. Most teams will be busting a gut today.

Re: SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY v CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
Bulut still unwell and hasn't travelled. Don't want to set any hares running, but should we start to worry about his health? (Suspect it's covid which can be mild or severe as we know).

That’s a massive assumption regarding his illness, this time of year there’s so many bugs, etc. doing the rounds. Pretty sure we’ve had players missing through illness recently, bugs usually spread quickly through a squad.

It's winter lot of illness around. He could have COVID. So what. He'll be fine.

Re: SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY v CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
Not quite as adventurous a lineup as hoped....but some young subs there.

Re: SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY v CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
weird lineup, maybe bulut is faking the illness so he isn't tainted by association :hehe:

Re: SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY v CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
Looks like 2-2-4-2 to me!
-
Re: SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY v CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
Panzo not in the squad. Sawyers or Rinohmota sweeper?
-
Re: SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY v CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
Cardiff City XI: Alnwick; Ng, Benjamin, Rinomhota; Tanner, Wintle, Sawyers, R. Colwill; Bowler, Etete, Robinson.
Subs: Turner, Fagan-Walcott, Giles, Antwi, Ralls, Evans, J. Colwill, Ashford, Meite.

We’ve played the same 13/14 players for 5 months. They’re all absolutely ****ed. If we had a squad, I’d be 100% on board but our squad is running on fumes

one of them being from the u21s too!
I'd prefer this way of playing 3-5-2 than the McCarthy way of 5 centre backs though, although I suspect it will be equally successful

Re: SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY v CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
Didn’t they select something similar in the league cup at Birmingham
-
Re: SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY v CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
Decent enough side. Stronger than it could’ve been.
-
Re: SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY v CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
I can’t see how we get a back three, let alone a four from that team. Maybe Rinomhota is going to play as a defender like Adams did in the League Cup games? Wednesday have picked a pretty strong team, so this looks like a Blackburn type encounter which will probably finish with a similar score.

Re: SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY v CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
Where is Panzo? And no Runnarsson either, I assume that’s the end of their loans then

didn't we have someone recently who went back to train with their parent club in January, then went out on loan again

Re: SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY v CARDIFF CITY. Match thread

No Ugbo, who was on the bench against QPR, either.

I see the ridiculous cup formations are back.
I imagine we'll be emptying the bench rugby style in the second half and sending all the kids on

Orthopaedic shoes. I checked the team sheet and didn't see him

Re: SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY v CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
Sounds like illness isn’t restricted to the manager then
-
Re: SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY v CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
Does anyone know what's up with Goutas? He was very emotional when he scored last week and now he's on compassionate leave.
