We attacked and scored goals in those days.

We had smaller crowds in our Promotion season under Warnock than this season.
That would suggest it’s not the attendance or the stadium size that are the issue with poor atmospheres this season.

You’re right on this point. From memory it was only the last 5 home games that made our average attendance respectable.

Prob just seemed better as there actually was 20,000 happy fans watching exciting football as opposed to 14/15,000 half asleep

Everyone loves a successful team, regardless of style , if I recall people were moaning about the lack of possession.

Just looking back there were plenty of games that were barely over 16,000. Against Ipswich it was as low as 15,900.

And on both occasions sold out the home sections for every game, averaging over 30000 in the process. Indicating that, if the club is to have any ambitions, the ground isn't too big for us.

That's not just with us. Football has changed a lot in even just 20 years. 10k at Ninian Park would easily outsing and outchant today's crowds. That's not to say they were better crowds, just different.

It was also easier to congregate together under a roof which contained and amplified the sound. The acoustics and seating arrangements of the new ground make it harder for the noisiest elements to be together and make a noise.

Don't think that makes any difference. People going to games are different. Think of some of the nutters we had following us in the 80s and 90s, coming up with some chants was something to do during the awful football. Now I think more people actually want to watch the game.
