Good thing we gave him a 4 year deal!
In fairness I don't know anyone who has been making excuses for him for some time now.
I didn't see it on the TV but apparently the fans in the ground were chanting "we want Page out" at the final whistle.
Makes the FAW's vote of confidence after the Poland game look even more disastrous.

Did any Welsh player do their cause any good? I don’t think they did.

Well done Bob on picking up on the players. This is Gibraltar we're talking about, they wouldn't even win the Cymru Premier or whatever it's called. They're shit, and none of the Welsh players turned up. Usual excuses from people though. This was a chance for the young players involved and they messed up. It's on them as well as Page.

Like I’ve said elsewhere he really isn’t a Bulut supporter, look at his tweets he’s very critical on game days.

He was, I'm more making the point of square pegs in round holes. Cullen isn't a number 10, he does very little outside the box and isn't a creative player
Either play Cullen up top or don't play him at all, if you want him and Moore on then go with a front 2. Pointless playing him deeper. Page's refusal to make any changes in game is infuriating. Why, when Gibraltar are camped on their 18 yard line, did he persist with 2 holding midfielders?
-
Re: FT: WALES 0 - 0 GIBRALTAR
wrong game to play matondo, he's unlikely to get behind a defence that don't leave their box

Without knowing or really caring that much, is it a system thing? Is page playing a style that the senior Welsh side play, so replicating that style? I have no idea, but lets be honest, it shouldn't matter what formation we play, we should see off Gibraltar easily. Formation and tactics didn't ee us draw that game. (Although i'm not suggesting you are saying that)

We should be beating them absolutely, but if you're going to break down teams like Gibraltar who were just sat on their 18 yard line then you need to have players who can play between the lines and in tight spaces, that's not Cullen's game and is more suited to Colwill (poor as he was). I'm not putting the result down to that, but that it is indicative of Page's mindset and inability/refusal to change things
As shit as Gibraltar are, it is tough to play these teams when they're just sat there but in that case we should have been playing much higher up We had 2 holding midfielders for the whole match - why? They just spent the time passing between themselves and the full backs, they were taking about half an hour to give it Colwill/Matondo/Burns. It would have made more sense to have 1 holding and 2 10 style players who can unlock a defence. The managers job is to set the players up so they can succeed and change things if they're not working. I'd argue he did neither

On the occasions he had the ball in space he f*cked it up completely

That'll be remembered in years to come just as the Maidstone debacle is still remembered 30 years on.

Not a single person I’ve talked to is annoyed by it

Pathetic impotent performance. A flaccid limp non erect display.

Is there a good game to play him?
Hardly set the world alight in Glasgow .
Only scored 78 goals this season.

Re: FT: WALES 0 - 0 GIBRALTAR
I’m struggling to think of a worse manager in terms of tactics and changes during a game than Page. I think I’d rather Mad Mick in charge, probably a toss up between him and Hudson.
A 4 year extension is absolutely criminal

Gibraltar all wrong for him, that painter decorator fullback had the measure of Matondo. He's be better off against a team that allows space, like Germany, Spain, France.......

Re: FT: WALES 0 - 0 GIBRALTAR
i was there this evening. Not a great experience from start to finish. i drove up
to the ground but everyone was subject to random breathylyser tests going into the ground. Lads who came on the coaches from Albufueria were turned away.
You would have thought that all those Fans Ambassadors that do the pre-planning would have alerted others of this risk but it seemed to catch quite a few by surprise as they were turned away from the ground.
As for the game. Gibraltar started with two banks of 5 from the kick off. if you were a decent international coach you would have realised this from the kick off and got your starters to zip the ball around to tire them out. We didn't do that and a combination of time wasting and slow build up play made Gibraltar more comfortable. the longer nil nil the deeper they got.
Some positives in Wes Burns, who showed some decent ball control and particularly, Lewis Koumas, who looks like a talent. charlie Crew has a debut to forget but the bomb squad of James, Johnson and Moore made little or no difference erither.

Re: FT: WALES 0 - 0 GIBRALTAR
Thought we played really well looked confident on the ball, took on players, worked hard. Final ball could have been better but nice to see some new faces.

Re: FT: WALES 0 - 0 GIBRALTAR
What I find amusing is Wales absolutely battered Gibraltar without scoring and people want Page out. Cardiff get battered most weeks and want Bulut in. Funny old game

I have to confess that I just watched a few minutes of it here and there but I noticed that Colwill was dispossessed after thinking he had more time to do something with the the ball than was the case, a quality that I have always considered it to be his biggest weakness.

To be fair any one of us could have sent a team out that would have dominated the possession and chances against Gibraltar, it's not as if that's his style.
I'm sure a fair few of us would even get a win.

Re: FT: WALES 0 - 0 GIBRALTAR
Page and The Welsh FA have taken us backwards recently.
Their Social Media game is infuriating as well.
-
Re: FT: WALES 0 - 0 GIBRALTAR
Jesus, you'd like to that with James, Johnson and Moore on the pitch they could have at least got a goal between them. It's hard to judge though. Post-season friendlies for countries not involved in tournaments are ridiculous.
-
Re: FT: WALES 0 - 0 GIBRALTAR
Worst result since losing to Orient 1-0.
Gone from semi finalists in the Euros that played superb football against Russia, to this. Maybe Rhian (the women's manager) should be in charge, as no worse than Page

Noel Mooney seems more concerned about giving some of the beauts who are 'The Red Wall' a tarted up pair of gazelles rather than ponder the ability of the limited coach they currently have?
-
Re: FT: WALES 0 - 0 GIBRALTAR
Maybe I'm the only one not bothered about this result. A totally pointless friendly after a long season played by a group of players who have rarely ever met, let alone played together, in warm conditions. It was barely even a training ground exercise played at a snail's pace. I had little interest in it, I bet the players had little interest as well in such a meaningless fixture. Total waste of time and the result matched that.
-
Re: FT: WALES 0 - 0 GIBRALTAR
Page is totally clueless. Had you asked any one of us on here how Gibralter would set up and the answer would be everyone behind the ball, defend deep and hope to keep the opposition out. Yet time and again we tried to play through their red wall. Not once did a full back go on an overlapping run to get in behind their defence and we kept doing the same thing over and over. I've also never seen him change tactics during a game to exploit a weakness in the opposition. The only thing he does is swap personal which often, as others have mentioned, results in square pegs in round holes.
It's been a series of failures from Page since we qualified for the world cup. How many more are we going to have to endure before the FAW realise they need to employ a proper manager.

Every corner from that Bolton player, went to the far post !!!!
Even the commentators said, “another far post corner coming up”, before the ball was placed down

I agree with this to a certain extent and if I was Rob Page I would be spinning similar and not saying things like the result is not acceptable.
The brutal truth though is that the manager is completely out if his depth and doesn't seem to know which players are good and how to get the best out of them.
