Biden needs to be given a dignified way to step down. He is clearly suffering from cognitive decline and watching it on live TV is cruel. It needs to be swift so his successor has a chance in the race against Trump.
I'm hoping that behind the scenes senior party Democrats are beavering away but I'm worried they will put Biden and/or the party in front of what the country needs.
We absolutely have to stop Trump at all costs. If the Democrats don't do what is best for America (and the planet), I will personally never forgive them.
Problem is each passing week is damaging them too. Even if he was stood down next week, the next inevitable scandal will be...well when did you know? Why didnt you act sooner? What does it say about your judgement to have let it get to this stage? Etc etc etc.Quote:

They didn’t have a candidate until wellinto the Convention on the West Wing and still won! Being serious, my first memory of Conventions is of the voting which took place there to decide the Presidential candidate - from memory, this was almost the norm in the sixties and seventies.
