The two stadiums were a hour's drive apart!

Well, if those Huddersfield fans were able to make it to our game, some members of the Hertha party might have as well. Hertha seemed to run out of steam in the closing stages and yet they're, apparently, starting their league programme next weekend.

I was having a look at last season's Bundesliga 2 table earlier.
Hertha Berlin finished 9th of 18 sides in the division. The largest attendance during 2023/24 was 69,156, when Hertha played at home to Schalke 04, who finished 10th. That's an incredible crowd under the circumstances.
Even if any of our stadiums had the capacity, I can't imagine almost 70,000 turning out for a mid-table Championship game.

There are so many positives about the Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2. It's just such a pity that Bayern are so dominant in the top flight.

I saw Hertha play on three occasions when they were in the Bundesliga. It was great experience on each occasion, brilliant fun. However, the football itself didn't feel like it was of a great standard. In fairness, I didn't see Hertha play any of the top teams, but the football still seemed to be a good way short of what you'd expect in the English top flight.

I went to a Hertha/Bayern Munich game about 7 years ago. It was a nice day, weather wise, and the experience outside the ground was very good, like a pop up village of bars, fast food stalls etc. Bayern cantered to a 2-0 win but I found it strange that there wasn’t any disquiet among the home fans, no catcalling, no criticising their players. Their ‘singing section’ just carried on with their choreographed singing and flag waving as if the game itself was a sideshow to their performance.

All singing “Saucepan vark & Delilah”, whilst getting battered :hehe:

Thought Kpakio did well as well, doesn't give the ball away

I go maybe 3 or 4 times a year. Next time, try around blocks 30-32. You will find almost everyone there in tune with the game and giving the team dog's abuse when they are poor. There's been a lot of that in the last few seasons.
