History shows that Damascus has not been continuously occupied which is the key fact re understanding this prophecy in Isaiah 17:1-2. The secondary issue which you have all naturally leapt on is (as always) the Genesis issue; as you are all hoping for a godless existence or accountability to a God who does not call you to account for your thoughts, words and deeds. The God first mentioned in Genesis does, as well you know.
Her comment re 8,000-10,000 years is a speculative comment as can be seen in the context. I'm sure you guys have searched high and low for any verified artifact which is over 6000 years old and failed, and there is no 'cigar' here either.
