The Burnley league game (which has to be moved for Villa) has already been determined to rearranged to be played in the midweek after the Villa game, too.
I can’t understand why it’s on the Wednesday as opposed to the Tuesday. That doesn’t make sense looking at Cardiff or Hull’s fixtures and it’s not being televised, but even if they want to put it on Sky+ they could have done so on the Tuesday.

Yeah I presumed Hull were playing on the Sunday before, it seems a real odd choice.
Maybe it'll get moved to the Tuesday and then the Villa game will be pulled forward to the Friday then :hehe:..

By the way, the draw for the next round of the Champions League isn’t until 21st February!

12:30 Saturday BBC Wales is my forecast.

On the same pitch?

Doubtful, although I read somewhere they play in the same city.

Re: 5th round draw - ASTON VILLA away
I’ve just checked and in fact Birmingham and Villa have twice played home games on the same days this season. Both midweek matches. That’s surprised me.
-
Re: 5th round draw - ASTON VILLA away
The previous games this season that were allowed to go ahead in Birmingham on the same day (first time since 2010 apparently):
Villa v Bologna
Brum v Bolton
And then just over a month later:
Villa v Brentford
Brum v Stockport

This is definitely not a 6 pointer

Re: 5th round draw - ASTON VILLA away
Villa’s most likely opponent in the Champions League is Dortmund (if they beat Atlanta). Assume they’ll be away in the 1st leg

You have just answered your own question.
In 2008 we didn’t face a team anywhere near as good as Villa.
We’ll get hammered which will be damaging hence we may as well sacrifice the kids.
I for one won’t be watching.

Yeah a decent away day, sure we will lose but then we probably would at Preston, Fulham Ipswich etc too and we’ve done all of them to death….

You won't be watching your club play in the FA Cup 5th round? Really?

Re: 5th round draw - ASTON VILLA away
A club not doing quite as well as them would have been better but if you want to win the cup you have to beat someone at some point :hehe::ayatollah:
If they make changes and take us lightly we have a slim chance, we can't be making changes to get people minutes though, just has to be our best possible team.
5th round is when it gets interesting, I always remember the Wolves win at home with the Hasselbaink screamer.

Has to be the first team and hope Villa have their eye on their Champions League match

Dan (aka ccfcwelshlad) suggested last night that the Burnley league game is going to be rearranged for the midweek following the Villa cup tie. If that happens, the run of fixtures will be:
Hull City (H)
Aston Villa (A)
Burnley (H)
Sunderland (A)
All in the space of 11 days.
I very much doubt Riza will field his strongest available side in all four of those fixtures.

I agree
Its a shot at the FA Cup quarter final, what's the point giving it less than 100% on the off chance we only lose 1-0 to Burnley

Re: 5th round draw - ASTON VILLA away
Chance for a decent tribute to Whitts. I’ve seen a suggestion on a Villa thread for a round of applause on 7 minutes

Id like to see us field the youngsters in the cup game. For me the priority the priority is finishing 21st in the Championship and if we can slightly improve our goal difference against Burnley by resting the first team players then thats what needs to be done. Winning trophies is nothing compared to the promise of one day finishing bottom of the Premier League again.

It's just as well our players are not as fearful as you. For the life of me I don't understand how you can enjoy following a football team, all the while worrying how many goals we'll get beaten by. Is this just a hangover from the 7-0 hammering we took ?

Don’t put a downer on the dream now, think of those Leeds and Burnely fans dreaming of that very scenario…..one day that could be us again. It’s amazing really, it really doesn’t seem that long ago we’re tonking Villa here, 3-0 up by half time was it? Half their beleaguered fans trying to be all moody and leaving….:hehe:

Beat them comfortably in 2022 for Whitts memorial game whilst the World Cup break was on.
Decent lineup too.
Villa line-up: Marschall, Young (Bogarde 46), Chambers (Feeney 67), Mings (Konsa 46), Revan (Digne 46), O’Reilly (Raikhy 46), Nakamba (Young 67), Kamara (Luiz 46), Buendía (Ramsey 46), Archer (Bailey 46), Watkins (Ings 46).

8pm on the Friday.
Hull shifted forward 24 hours, Burnley the following midweek (Tuesday 4th March) as expected.

I quite like the championship . Occasionally we win games , play well , see youngsters coming through .
No real money in it though.

Bit shit for Hull fans. 11 days warning for the rearranged fixture.
No trains back to Cardiff after the game either.
