100% He's our top goalscorer, we actually have a recognised threat when he's on it and people want to drop him ....... Hello.......

Agreed. When writing the team sheet out, you start with Callum Robinson and then pick the other 10! He's someone you actually have to think about if you're the opposition.

It's crackers, isn't it. If I sat down any city fan and asked them for at least one success story this season, then surely Robinson would be mentioned frequently.

We have actually got a goalscorer, we're terrible and he isn't! As I've said, only 3 players have more goals than him and he's scored all his from open play. He is the one area of the team we don't have to worry about

It’s a squad game and how are we going to see what Salech, a natural Centre forward can Doug he isn’t starting games?
I’m not saying we drop Robinson from the squad, March him out the building or banish him to the wilderness
Robinson can play anywhere in the front four, personally I think he’ll have more impact playing behind a CF
Colwill pulled Stoke apart and when he came on at Portsmouth soon had to drop back from a 10, to another unfamiliar role
He deserves a start on Saturday as a 10, and Salech should get the chance to show what he can do from the start
As I said, personally after that pathetic performance on Tuesday, I’d shake it up a bit, no one should be guaranteed a starting place after two shit league performances in my view
But each to their own

Salech is going to have to earn his stripes from the bench. You cannot drop or accommodate our best player. Salech might have to play up front with Robinson in a 2 but Robinson has to play there, he's the only player that scores

Matchday programme for Saturday. Do you think the use of a cover with blue and white quarters was intended?

The joint third top scorer in the league has to start against Bristol city, that's all i'm saying. Salech can be introduced and earn his way in like any other player ha to do, unless they're proven. Colwill didn't pull stoke apart, i don't think anyone has said that, he did well enough though, and capped it off with two goals, the first an excellent finish. He did pretty well against Portsmouth for 30 minutes, nothing spectacular, but well enough (in my opinion) to maybe get a start on Saturday. Oddly enough, i'm the only person on here who has said as much (Before you) We shall see.

Robinson is the first name on your team sheet
Out of interest who else would you start with tomorrow?

Re: CARDIFF CITY v BRISTOL CITY. Match thread
How many of the starting eleven on Tuesday put in a performance which should guarantee them a place tomorrow - there was one as far as I'm concerned, Joel Bagan. Yes, there were some others (e.g. Fish snd O'Dowda) who did pretty well, but, in the period which decided the game (the first twenty minutes), we were shocking - I said in my blog that we lost all ten of the outfield one against ones during that time, but, on further reflection, I'd say Bagan won his.
As for the subs, Colwil did okay to a point, Alves didn't do anything wrong and El Ghazi had his moments, but we ended up playing a kind of 4-2-4 where four front players barely saw the ball because Chambers and Colwill were not effective enough out of possession - granted, they were given a huge task by Riza.
When it comes to Robinson, I'd have him in the team tomorrow, but I accept that his performance on Tuesday was poor enough to warrant a discussion as to whether he should be dropped.

I do not rate Tanner, but against Portsmouth where it was like a basketball game I think he would have excelled being able to run into space.
I would like to see this Alves though. People that know him seem to rate his pedigree.

Do you really think Fish did well? I mean he put in a few blocks but a lot of the pressure was of his own making.

I'm with Bob on Fish, I think that he did alright, he showed good awareness at times, he wasn't that bad in my opinion.

If Riza agrees we should see a Goutas-Fish partnership for a good run of games.
From the way he described Daland's injury I doubt he will be in the frame for several weeks - and he was making too many mistakes anyway. I expect he will come good eventually - but we can't afford Daland in his current form in our current position.
It would be a backward step to put Chambers back where he struggled, or to move Ng or Bagan across (although I have more confidence in Bagan out of his proper position).
Whichever way Riza goes I hope he gives the 'new' CB partnership time to settle. For that reason I would stick with Alnwick in goals despite a recent wobble. Too many changes in the weakest part of the team is a recipe for League One.

I don't really have a first name on the team sheet kind of player really. I'm vouching for Robinson because he has scored 11 goals in 26 games for us this season, which means to me that he should maybe be afforded a little more time than other players considering his position. Robinson is no world beater, but he can only drop in pretty well, especially in that wider position, when he's playing well ( which isn't often enough, but that's why he's playing for us) he links up well and peels of into pockets of space quickly. We have Salech now as an option, and he's a different type of player altogether, more aggressive, more physical, which would probably mean that Riza would have to go a bit flatter I. Terms of formation when Salech plays. It's a decent option to have, because it means that we can play off him, 2nd balls and all that, it gives us a different dimension. Although we have to have midfielders who can anticipate the 2nd balls. We struggled massively with that against Portsmouth.

I like how the club have posted a picture of the Sloper road sign. Just in case anyone confuses it with another Sloper road that runs parallel to a great big **** off football stadium....

Robinson was poor on Tuesday, I wouldn't mind seeing him in the 10 role playing off Salech

FFS Keep them in, don't cause traffic chaos for us because of a few carrot crunchers.
It's common sense to look after the majority especially as we are at home.

That's a good shout, he's mobile, can play, and can make those late runs.

Re: CARDIFF CITY v BRISTOL CITY. Match thread
I'd say Goutas should be the first name on the team sheet. Then Robinson, but not necessarily in the role of striker.
The rest? Maybe put the names in a hat.

Maybe they sent Collins down to take the photo - give him something to do.

Fish reminded me of Goutas last season when he moved to the left CB. It may not make much difference to many but when a right footer goes to the left we lose the balance, they struggle.
Goutas was on the right and just awful, Alnick lost the plot. Just an awful performance.

Didn’t we see enough of that last season, other than the first game he was awful.

Derby are looking shot, let’s hope we can take advantage of the two games we have on them….

Let’s hope the team can recreate that “derby day” feeling from the Swansea match.
C’mon City!!!!

Re: CARDIFF CITY v BRISTOL CITY. Match thread
I really hope I'm wrong on Fish for the immediate future ( because that's what we need we haven't got the luxury of players developing by playing them) but I thought he had a complete shocker so much so I'd even rather Chambers back there and he's not good enough.
Rino needs axing otherwise I'd put Ng there but id rather Rino in than Fish. So that's an option. Otherwise Bagan or give Lawlor a go.

Lawlor looks a real prospect, it’s a shame he didn’t get loaned out to gain league experience
I thought Fish did okay and hopefully he can grow into the role with Lawlor on the bench as back up
Like Giles, there young, hungry and talented and you know they would give 100%
