On official site:
"Prices start from £309 for Adults* and £79 for U16s*, which makes each game significantly more affordable vs. individual match ticket pricing.
We are proud to once again be offering one of the most affordable season tickets in Championship football, with a Zone 4 Adult Season Ticket working out at less than £13.50 per game. This represents a minor increase after several successive years of frozen Season Ticket prices.
General Adult tickets start from £24 with Seniors (60+) from £20, 16-21 years from £15 & Juniors U16 from £11!"
Selling cheap match-day tickets at 50% shouldn't piss off too many ST holders as it would be close to what they are paying anyway.

yeah fair enough - I'd definitely like to see them slash prices for the last few games, to try to get some decent crowds in

I can see some merit in offering a family friendly discount to get numbers up, but would that be enough at this stage?
It’s the product on offer that’s the problem!
I wouldn’t want to see Warnock anywhere near the club now, but when he turned up, he galvanised the fan base and club as one for a few years.
Whatever you think of Warnock in the first couple of months he was doing fan roadshows, I saw him a couple of times, and he was always entertaining, and engaging with the audience, he talked in such a way and for long enough to make fans believe it was a common goal we were all involved with.
Now it might have all been bollocks, but it was great PR, although I’m not sure how someone who talks about creating a box could get by?
It’s a focal point that is missing, there is a complete disconnect between the fans, the team and the board imho
Arrogance and apathy aren’t good, combined there a recipe for disaster

I didn't make the game due to the 12:30 kick off time. I'd assumed they'd made the red seats available as they had previously. Either not opened due to lack of demand or not worth the extra costs that would be incurred by the club?

Nowadays the money comes from Sky , Advertising , corporate customers . The fans are of course needed , without them making a racket the game would be a lot more boring . Covid games brought that home to the owners.
As a lot of Cardiff fans found out in the red days , those that left in protest, their seats were soon with filled with new customers when Cardiff made it to the premier league , most of whom left when Man U et al were no longer visiting .
When we are struggling , we are much loved important fans by the club .. That will change if the club once again joins the elite.
This.
All day long.
Re: Sky TV is killing the game for the majority of clubs.
The PR & marketing has always been dreadful down the City. It’s a sort of build it and they will come attitude. Unfortunately now is not the time to reach out due to the dross on show. The work should have been done during the Cup Finals & promotion eras, get out in the communities and beat the drum, people would have listened then, everyone likes to be associated with success. No, they just relied on us to turn up and then a large percentage disappear. It’s piss poor down the City, from the very top, always has been really.

My lad plays in the TERV league under 7s. Majority of his games kick off at 11:30 so the new TV deal stops him from watching City. He hasn’t been down once this season.

Without prying into things too much, and I agree on hating the 12.30 matches, but he could still go to the 3pm games, no?
Re: Sky TV is killing the game for the majority of clubs.
From listening to the Peterborough chairman on TalkSPORT a couple of months ago the issue is that the extra money they are getting on this new TV deal compared to the previous TV deal by agreeing to move games to 12.30pm, the red button midweek, or in his case he was saying he had to move a couple of Saturday games to a Monday, is that it in no way covers the drop in physical attendance of these games. I think he said they are compensated £2000 a game in league one if they are on the red button midweek.
However, with so many clubs in debt and reliant on a TV deal to survive they had no other option but to agree to it. Unlike the Premier League the EFL can’t exactly play hardball with the broadcasters.

£2000?! That's an incredibly low sum. Easy to believe that 100 less away fans will travel to Peterborough on a Monday night instead of a Saturday afternoon, so that's the £2k lost already.

Exactly. It was a really good interview he speaks well and put Simon Jordan in his place too.
As he reminded him, he hasn’t been involved in running a football club for 15 years he doesn’t know what goes on in the EFL meetings.
Re: Sky TV is killing the game for the majority of clubs.
I remember a few years back when Klopp was berating a BT Sport reporter live on air after they'd lost in an early kick off, and the reporter had to point out that it was his club who'd negotiated to play at that time so they could be visible in the east Asian market.
So the clubs are not blameless on this. Some may have felt they had no choice (although you can argue their own financial mismanagement was the root cause of that), but I think most of them just saw the dollar signs and didn't consider the long term impact beyond that.
As for our club, the club's ticket pricing is actually one of the few things they've got very right IMO. A ST down the City remains not just one of the cheapest in the Championship, but in the entire EFL.
There could be more done to attract families though. Here in Cyprus, the team my boy supports have traditionally struggled for crowds. So they started doing child tickets for 1 euro (and they give them a small gift at the turnstile). Mine is 13 euros, so basically 5 pounds each. Crowds have doubled in the last 4 years and I'd say well over half of them are families.

So the question is, why did his club vote for it?

If you’re that interested it will probably be on YouTube. He can explain it far better than I can.
As I said in my initial post it was a few months ago and from recollection he implied they didn’t really have much of an option as the new broadcasting deal was dependant on it.
He also said the EFL needed to get their own house in order instead of constantly throwing stones at the EPL as the clubs.

I can only assume they feel leant on given Sky's general powerful position.
Also, perhaps it was worth trialling to see how it went?
