Really hope Ramsey and co can inspire something but I hope Tan gets no credit for it if we do.
You can bet your arse that Tan will take the credit if we do stay up

Re: Riza sacked. Aaron Ramsey takes charge
Should have made a change ages ago, but this does give me a tiny bit of hope that I didn't otherwise have. We're at the stage now where we just need a change, whatever it is.
-
Re: Riza sacked. Aaron Ramsey takes charge
Can we all agree now that if/when we do go down, Ramsey's status is not diminished?
I worry that it's a fool's errand, like Shearer at Newcastle United those years ago.

Re: Riza sacked. Aaron Ramsey takes charge
What goes around comes around
Oxford beat us on Boxing Day in Rowett's first game as new boss.
Maybe Ramsey can enjoy a win in his first game in charge

Re: Riza sacked. Aaron Ramsey takes charge
Netflix have missed out on a cracking series by not following the club's goings on this season.
We'll probably escape now with Horvath scoring in added time at Carrow Road.

Does it matter

Re: Riza sacked. Aaron Ramsey takes charge
Riza was way out of his depth so much so I felt sorry for him.
Like when you have to put a pet down.
Do I feel we have 1% more chance of survival now? I think I do.

Hutton's the u18s coach I think. Interesting to see Gunter back.

Let’s hope it creates enough positivity to get a result Monday and take it from there.

Re: Riza sacked. Aaron Ramsey takes charge
Aaron, get in the phone to Craig Bellamy for a pre-match dressing room speach

I was really referring to the tinkerman mentality that Riza had. Dou t the players knew from week to week whether they would be in the team, and if they were what formation they would play.
On the face of it players like Bagan and Ashford were having a poor deal.
Wonder too if Robbo , ElGhazi, s really unfit.

Re: Riza sacked. Aaron Ramsey takes charge
Yesterday was like watching a football team playing in 6 " of treacle. Perhaps they all got pissed off playing for Riza and the change in manager/coaching will bring the desired change in attitude and application because on paper at least they are capable of much better.

Re: Riza sacked. Aaron Ramsey takes charge
Probably the best decision given the circumstances. I don’t think it’s as bizarre as some are making out.
He’s already at the club and knows the players, their strengths and weaknesses and tactics. A new manager would need to be approached, contracts negotiated and signed all before Monday. Realistically all of that would’ve been needed to happen today for someone new to have one single training session with the team tomorrow. He’ll also probably galvanise the fans more and have more goodwill than anybody else that could’ve come in bar possibly Warnock.
6 weeks ago it would’ve been bizarre but at this moment it’s the best move. Hopefully.

I don't think it'll be too far from the truth, to expect to him be involved in some small sort of capacity. He will have been involved in allowing Gunter to take up the role already.

If we stay up, Rambo will attain god-like status.
If we go down, the change was too late, it wasn't his fault.

What's happened to Purse Ramasut and Shaw?

Re: Riza sacked. Aaron Ramsey takes charge
The first sensible decision the club has taken all season. Remove Riza whose presence had become toxic and hand responsibility over to Ramsey and the players. Whatever happens they’ve given themselves a puncher’s chance with 3 games left. Expect a totally different atmosphere on Monday with the players and fans up for it. C’mon City!

Well if they haven't then the dugout is going to be very crowded with a whole new team announced to support Ramsey 🤔 having said that they have been so ineffective no one would notice whether they were there or not

Purse was doing alright with U21s and since his promotion they've had a bad spell. Perhaps he saw returning to that post as a backward step. (Or maybe he's just gone back there).
Edit: He's back listed as U21 manager.

Re: Riza sacked. Aaron Ramsey takes charge
The decision should have been made a long time ago, but however late, Riza needed to be put out of his public misery. He had lost confidence and any limited judgement he showed previously. He had become toxic.
With just three games to go there were no other options - not without the board planning and thinking ahead, which is obviously mad.
I have no idea if Ramsey is any good as a manager, or what he will bring to the party, but maybe there really is something in the laws of football that means a 'new manager bounce' must happen!
The change to the coaching group is good. For Ramsey to come in and be surrounded by Purse, Shaw and Ramasut would be stupid. I am surprised this didn't happen, but it has to be positive. Almost complete change on the training ground and in the dug out - but as no change in the squad more of the same is the likeliest outcome.

Re: Riza sacked. Aaron Ramsey takes charge
2 questions immediately spring to mind which is more my musing than anything else:
1. If Ramsey keeps us up will he be retained as manager for next season; and
2. Is Ramsey likely to be on a managerial contract as well as a playing contract given his prolonged absences from the playing squad.
I doubt whether anyone will be able to answer these questions or indeed know but there are several people in the know (or appear to be ) on this board.
Whichever way people think the Board's decision was the correct one. It's just a pity the plug wasn't pulled a few games earlier.
-
Re: Riza sacked. Aaron Ramsey takes charge
Complete turnaround. I'm now absolutely certain we are staying up.

Exactly.
Penny for his thoughts regarding the tactics employed since he was promoted to the 1st team coaching staff.

Re: Riza sacked. Aaron Ramsey takes charge
I did suggest last week, tongue in cheek, that Bellamy should be approached as a very short term fix.
With Gunter appointed I wasn't that far off.
I have no doubt Bellers has approved this arrangement and Ramsey will have his phone no on speed dial.

Well that's a relief. Putting Ramsey in charge without Bellamy's blessing simply wouldn't have been acceptable.

It's all a bit weird. Darren Purse, a former captain who made 115 (+8) appearances for the club and scored 12 goals, is the subject of scorn and derision in some quarters, while Aaron Ramsey, who made a total of 35 (+16) appearances for the club and scored 6 goals during three separate spells, is seen as a legend.
I get that Ramsey is viewed as something special because he was produced by the club and went on to have a career at the top level, but why such stick for Purse?
-
Re: Riza sacked. Aaron Ramsey takes charge
I instinctively balk at claims to be “in the know”, but I reckon he could well be right about a toxic atmosphere within the club here - the decision to get rid of people like Purse, Shaw and Ramasut poses a lot of questions.

His volley against Leicester was arguably better than any goal Ramsey scored for us.

Have we got rid of the 3. Sorry I'm out this vid is 45 minutes long. I've seen the club thanking Riza but nothing about the others.
