Re: CARDIFF CITY V SOUTHEND UTD: Match thread
I thought that Will Spiers did really well.

Seen Spiers play for the U21’s on several occasions. Carry’s the ball forward well and seems to know how to defend. Likes a tackle.

Spot on. He's exciting to watch.
Re: CARDIFF CITY V SOUTHEND UTD: Match thread
Having watched those two games I'm starting to see a starting 11. Hovarth will be keeper, right back probably Kpacio though Spiers looks good. Left back Giles or Bagan, though Bagan has been playing centre back. Centre back I'd go with Lawlor and Fish, though I suspect it will be Chambers and Fish. Centre midfield Wintle with either Turnbull or Robertson. Wingers, I think Nyakuhwa has been the pick of them, the other wing position being wide open. Colwill and Salech upfront look really good together.

presumably Ng will be RB when fit.
Re: CARDIFF CITY V SOUTHEND UTD: Match thread
Horvath/Alnwick GK
Kpakio/NG full-backs
Fish/Lawlor centre-backs
Chambers CDM
Turnbull CM, Colwill CAM
Ashford, Nyakuhwa wingers
Salech striker
That's a pretty good starting 11. We can make adjustments

Set to miss the start of the season according to Glen Williams
Huge chance for Kpakio, needs to prove himself over the next few weeks

Ng’s injury is a strange one. He’s out for around five weeks according to every media source I’ve seen apart from SI on the Cardiff City World videos who has said on plenty of separate occasions that it’s five months he’s out for.
Re: FT: CARDIFF CITY 3 - 0 SOUTHEND UTD: Match thread
Fish and Lawlor could start against the Posh, as Chambers is suspended, after his red card at Norwich.

has chambers been played in CDM in either of these friendlies? I think it'll be Wintle there with King as backup.

I know there are many who don't like him but I'd take Wintle over Chambers in defensive midfield. Chambers seems a bit slow to play in that position although he wasn't helped by the even slower Mannsverk next to him. It meant we were too pedestrian and it was too easy to get at our defence.
Re: CARDIFF CITY V SOUTHEND UTD: Match thread
Did it look like anyone could operate successfully as a winger? It would be hugely novel if that were the case.

Colwill was pulling wide quite a bit and put in a few good crosses, one for the 2nd goal and a good cross from the left that nobody on our team anticipated.
Re: FT: CARDIFF CITY 3 - 0 SOUTHEND UTD: Match thread
Nyakuhwa was the only winger I saw beat his man and look a threat, it's on the wing and full back we probably need reinforcements.

Colwill and Salech could rip this league up
