Can header the ball like a bullet. Deadly from free kicks. He can hammer the shot from distance with either foot. 15 goals in 30 international games, in a relatively poor international team. 6 foot tall, strong as an ox and he works hard to track back and tackle. For me, the complete attacking player.
This boy will light up this group for sure. If you ain’t seen him before, crack open a beer, order your favourite take-away, and enjoy the personal performance of a generational talent. This man is a class act. He is “The Tits”.
Off to bed now
Thank f uck I won’t have too keep on watching this 2nd (being kind), rate footballer.
Can’t see a top 100 Club shelling out for a league of Wales player

He's already playing for a top 100 team who were in the Champions League last season, and the only thing stopping a move to another Champions League team is his club Napoli.
Sweet dreams

Sorry, should have made myself more clear, when I said top 100 team, I meant a top 100 team in Great Britain.

Re: EUROS thread. Sunday 30th June 2024.
Spain had 35 shots yesterday, 13 on target (in 90 minutes).
England had 16 and 2 (in 120).

Re: EUROS thread. Sunday 30th June 2024.
Have to feel a little for Slovakia, better team performance over the 90 but one (only?) moment of quality from England with seconds to go changes the game.
Even when England win, the relationship between manager/players/media/fans feels toxic. It isn’t out of the realms of possibility they win the tournement with performances like yesterday’s, get their hands on silverware for the first time in over half a century, and they’ll still all hate each others’ guts.

I thought Slovakia got things wrong. They tried to defend virtually the entire second half and that always asks for trouble, even if the opposition doesn't look like scoring. It only takes one ball into the box to drop in the right area, one deflected shot, one misplaced clearance or header and it's in the net.
I don't understand why teams do it. They get into a winning position by playing a certain way, then think we'll stop doing this and hold on to what we've got. It invites pressure. It reminded me a bit of us at Leeds on the opening day of last season. Ahead, deservedly so and playing well, then sat back. Southampton and Ipswich were guilty of it against us. It was almost as if it was a case of "what a result this would be, we have to protect it". It could be said that Slovakia, as we were on that day, were moments away from a terrific victory and those defensive tactics would have been hailed as the right thing. But how often are there late equalisers or winners in games, often where teams try to see things out and not bother having any attacking threat? Too many.

That's exactly what England do too, which is why a lot of England fans want Southgate out. Contrast with Spain last night who went 2-1 then looked for a 3rd and a 4th.
Your opponent can't equalise while they're defending.

There's also that thing of letting the opposition have the ball for long periods when you're ahead. They can't equalise when you've got the ball.

It’s mystifying why teams do it. When Kane put England ahead at the start of Extra time, they should have busted a gut to get a 3rd.
As it was, they sat back again, and the Slovaks were pressing for an equaliser in the dying minutes.

Unfortunately, with their poxy luck, I think their name is on the trophy :frown:

A few online mutterings but until Gibraltar it was quite supportive openly.

Re: EUROS thread. Sunday 30th June 2024.
This evening's games are in Düsseldorf and Frankfurt Am Main but I got pulled over at a police checkpoint on the motorway passing Mönchengladbach this morning and I was asked if I was heading for the footy.
I'm actually heading for Belgium and will watch their game against France in a bar.

Re: EUROS thread. Monday 1st July 2024.

Re: EUROS thread. Monday 1st July 2024.
I'll go for the underdogs France and Spain

Re: EUROS thread. Monday 1st July 2024.
Hopefully a good game and they don't cancel one another out and bore us to death.

Re: EUROS thread. Monday 1st July 2024.
France are so dull in this tournament. Belgium, who have been nothing special throughout the competition, have looked the more likely scorers in the second half.
-
Re: EUROS thread. Monday 1st July 2024.
looks like pens to me
france win

Why does this female commentator feel the need to scream when she gets excited? Sounds ****ing awful and gives me a ringing sound in my ears. She can **** off.

Re: EUROS thread. Monday 1st July 2024.
Two own goals and a penalty for France so far in the competition - the two pre tournament favourites have been very uninspiring, but they’re both into the last eight.

And many thought the African Cup was boring. Mbappe's mask was pretty cool though.

It's dreadfully boring, but listening to the commentators it's like the final of Strictly Comer Dancing. Creaming themselves over a throw in..

Does the ball belong to Ronaldo? He’s the kid over the park, who wants every free kick just because it’s his!!

It's making me cringe tbh....then I imagine him winning it for Portugal with the last kick.

Exactly what I was thinking, if you were in the ground it’d be a right dilemma. Would you be screaming ‘Give it to some other bugger?’ or would you keep your powder dry, just in case he pinged in a beauty and you’d be looking a right knob?

That’s over 60 direct free kicks he’s taken for Portugal, I think they said he’s only scored one !
He’s no Gareth Bale :wales:

He’s f*cking rubbish, wouldn’t have hit double figures in caps had Peter Whittingham been born in Lisbon.

Re: EUROS thread. Monday 1st July 2024.
Portugal have tried down the left, they’ve tried down the right, both with no success !!!!!
Change f uck ing tack and go through the middle

Re: EUROS thread. Monday 1st July 2024.
Why are they persisting with Ronaldo when he's so clearly having a negative impact? Can't imagine the other players are particularly happy with it
