Is it an age thing? Someone gave me a couple of ‘Goal’ magazines from the late 60s/early 70s recently and I could name the players in team photos without checking quite easily, nowadays, I wouldn’t have a prayer.

Think it must be, I’d be exactly the same as you if I’d seen those Goal magazines.

Back in about 1979, I might well have answered those first three questions in the same way - there's no way I would have done that with the last two though!

Read somewhere once that Phil the Greek was a very good cricketer.

It was also said that he was known to bowl the occasional maiden over!

0-0 half time, City having to do a lot of defending it seems.

Re: The Bluebirds Academy and DVP thread...
Anyone know what the other boards dislike of Purse is about? Whenever I read about the u21s there it's often followed by something negative regards Mr Purse.
Done an ok job at least for me, pathway through to the first team seems at it's best in a long time. Surely he has to be given some credit in that as that would be his main objective.

It's ridiculous. In the last couple of weeks they've beaten Barry, Yeovil and Ammanford (1st teams, not U21s), despite Lawlor, Kpakio, Giles, Spiers, Mafico, Wigley and Nyakuhwa being with the first team and Reindorf with Newport. Purse needs to be sacked though 🤦*♂️

Re: The Bluebirds Academy and DVP thread...
There's definitely an agenda there, it seems to have ramped up since "the next big thing", (Lennon Peake) was released. AA was convinced Peake was going to be a world beater after talking to his parents on holiday.
At a time when there's little doubt we have more potential first team players coming through the ranks then I can remember, then all the hate aimed at Purse seems personal.

At the SLO meeting on Wednesday our new Head Coach specifically commented on how pleasantly surprised he was at the high standard of U21 players we have on top of those that have already made it to first team squad level.

Lennon who?

Re: The Bluebirds Academy and DVP thread...
I was there today as Ammanford is now one of my local teams.
Huge away following, upwards of maybe 20, 30 city fans I reckon.
The pitch invasion when we won the pens was a bit OTT I thought but gotta take these small victories.

And he has seen a few decent academy players in his time.

Ah yes I remember that, wonder if that's where it stemmed from.
I just found it odd. Purse an ex player who actually did well for us and now seems to be doing a good job in assisting the conveyor belt. Must be something like that yea.

Is anyone able to watch the Ammanford match highlights on the club site?
The clip doesn't come up with 'free' in the corner of the screen and when I click on it I get the message 'Cardiff City TV - This video is not available in your region - Subscribe now'. If I press the subscribe now option it brings up the monthly or annual audio pass options. I bought the annual audio pass last week - but that is irrelevant to watching a brief video clip on the club site.
