Take a leaf out of Rugby league and sound a hooter on the 90th minute.
I agree. Simple isn't it?

Re: EUROS thread. Tuesday 25th June 2024.
It is hilarious how shockingly negative Southgate is. I’m not sure I’d take him over Rob Page to be perfectly honest, given the talent disparities between the teams.
The issue with England tonight is glaringly obvious just like it has been every game, he’s got players in key positions who are never in the right positions for the tactic he’s trying to play, and he still hasn’t fixed it.
Probably a take that is going to age like sour milk as they settle in after the groups but it’s just utterly bizarre to me.

Anyone else notice how far Pickford is outside his box ?
Asking to be lobbed

They are so dull, boring and predictable. They almost look frozen again and they haven’t even been challenged by anyone decent yet.
Same old England eh? Wasn’t Southgate supposed to be taking the hand brake off finally? Looks like the brakes have seized up.

They are a dire watch. I only take any interest if they look like getting beat.

Re: EUROS thread. Tuesday 25th June 2024.
Plan A was keep the ball and hope they get out the way. Plan B is swing hopeful balls in to nobody.

Re: EUROS thread. Tuesday 25th June 2024.
And yet they get rewarded with the easier side of the draw
Luckiest team in international football, just look at the 2 goals the have scored!

with the pool of players should be coasting this competition.

Re: EUROS thread. Tuesday 25th June 2024.
Same post from me as for the previous game: England have many excellent players but they are not even a good team.
I'd be mad if I were an England fan. With Wales, I think you accept we have a lot of players with deficiencies and results often go against us but England have no excuse on that front.

That idiot Sam Matterface said when a lucky deflection gave Kane a goal against Denmark, "It's about time England had a bit of luck" Talk about one-eyed.

Re: EUROS thread. Tuesday 25th June 2024.
All the better teams play a back 2
England 4 at back and the DM carries the ball forward.
There’s no one further up the pitch.

Familiar story with England alike to what they called the golden generation who all hated each other back in the day due to club allegiances….didnt think this lot were like it but they probably think they are better than they are and can’t adapt to play as a team

Yep, and their 9 and 10 both like to regularly drop deep to get the ball, it’s hardly rocket science.
Once again though the draw has fallen perfectly for them. They will probably get far based on a couple of 1-0s in extra time and everyone will say next time it’s coming home for sure.

Not sure there's too much to get excited about there, but then again some of the best entertainment has come from some of the more unlikely matches.

The group kicking off at 5 currently has all 4 teams on 3 points so it should be interesting in that respect at least.

Re: EUROS thread. Wednesday 26th June 2024.
UEFA have officially confirmed that Denmark finished ahead of Slovenia in Group C because of a yellow card shown to Slovenia assistant coach Milivoje Novaković.
Denmark and Slovenia finished level on points, goal difference, goals scored and yellow cards shown to players.

Didn't appreciate that! It's the first one I'm watching down the pub, so I guess they'll show Belgium, with updates from the other one.

Someone on TV said last night that Germany alone have scored more goals than all the teams in Engerland's group put together!!!

Romania and Slovakia both go through if they draw. Be interesting to see how that plays out and if one team goes for the win.

Belgium needs to finish third and batter England, if they get them, they seem to be making the draw up as it goes along.
Have heard them say they may play third placed in this group or Holland or could be another team?

7 goals in 6 matches in England's group. 5 drawn games and 1 win (Bellinghams goal v Serbia).
Germany have scored 8 goals.

Re: EUROS thread. Wednesday 26th June 2024.
The more I think about the 24 team format the dafter it seems.
Firstly, the group stage consists of 36 matches. All that does is eliminate 8 teams from the competition.
Secondly, there is the distinct possibility of someone finishing bottom of a group on 4 points with them being eliminated. At the same time a team finishing 3rd in their group on 3 points will go through to the last 16.
