I don’t call them anything else. The colonel will be upset though.

I think most sensible people would judge this to be a very childish nickname.....
The weather isn't looking good for tonight's game. Maybe Maurice has put a curse on us. No Mason Crane so Will Smale is back in the 14 man squad, he's in form and could be handy if it comes down to a reduced overs slugfest. James Harris comes in too, for the injured Podmore. 6.30 kick off, weather permitting.
Pitch inspection at 7.50.
Abandoned.
Given we were going to be missing Crane, I'd say this was a case where an abandonment was to Glamorgan's advantage - playing wise anyway.
Still in a decent position after this weeks games. 1 point off Essex and Hampshire who occupy 5th and 6th place, but with a game in hand over them. Would be nice to see us turn Somerset over down in Taunton.
As for 'Glammy' , I really don't see the issue. With a long name like Glamorgan it's always to be shortened to something.
Decent start by Glammy/Glamorgan County Cricket club
Somerset 39/1 after 5. Would be nice to get smeed soon
Does Byrom deserve a place? What does he offer?
Another dismal effort. Only 5 times in 21 years have Glam got out of the group. They have never reached the final.
Very poor. Strong position with them at 123-7 and we just seem to have given up from there.
Will Smeed outscored the whole of the Glamorgan XI
That's an absolute spanking.
A really strange game. Pitch looked flat but both neither sides batters looked comfortable. Smeed had a good score, but it was mostly comprised of mistimed hacks and edges. Shades of the Surrey game in that a dominant bowling performance by us still ended up with the opposition scoring nearly 200. We're just not closing innings out, also demonstrated in the Essex game. I certainly wouldn't rule us out of contention, I think we could just as easily click and win 3 in a row as get battered for our next 3. If we beat Gloucester on Thursday we are right back in the mix
That’s total humiliation to lose a T20 match by over 100 runs!
I think that's about right. Middlesex are probably out of it but everyone else will feel they've got a chance, including us. A hammering today but it wasn't a game we were expecting anything out of and we're still only one point off the last play-off place. The bowling isn't great but we've had every side in trouble at some point. The batting hasn't quite clicked yet but today was our fIrst score under 166. I'm not overly confident but it could still go either way from here, like you say.
We still look a specialist bowler light to me - what’s happened to Sisodya? Doesn’t the new coach rate him?
He's been playing for the seconds recently, even captained them once last week, but didn't bowl in two recent T20 games (even though Billy Root did). It seems the policy is to play part-time spinners who can bat which, to be fair, makes more sense to me than playing an opener who can't score but it's still debatable. Sisodiya isn't playing in the current 2nd XI game which finishes on Thursday, when we play Gloucestershire, so maybe he's back in the first team squad?
A rapid 65 for Harry Podmore today with ten fours and a six. It's quite a deep squad we've got, doesn't seem to be as much use in cricket as it is in football though.

It’s strange, but slow left armers can suffer from a version of golf’s yips. The most famous example I can think of is Phil Edmonds who played plenty of test cricket for England yet for a time on a tour of India I think it was, had to abandon his run up to the crease and bowl from a standing start so to speak because it was the only way he could release the ball. Edmonds was back to bowling normally pretty quickly, but this was towards the end of his career and, from memory, he was never quite the same player. I’m probably adding two and two and making five here and Sisodiya has some sort of injury that is preventing him bowling, but it seems very odd what’s happening currently - Sisodiya has made little impact in the longer version of the game so far, but he’s been pretty good for us in the shorter stuff.
He seems to have been bowling in most of the 2nd XI games so I'm not sure what happened last week.
This is blindingly obvious but it had never really dawned on me before, it can't be easy to break into a settled first team at cricket. We're over two months into the season but there have been very few chances for the fringe players lately. No international call-ups or injuries, no League Cup ties to experiment in. No chance to come on as a sub and make an impression either in cricket. The 2nd XI stuff seems to be quite a way from the standard at first team level (similar to u-21 games in football) so if your face doesn't fit for some reason it must be hard to make progress. Especially when loyalty gets shown to players out of touch, as has happened to Byrom lately.
A heavy defeat like Sunday's seems the best chance for the fringe players. Surely Byrom's time is up for now. Will Smale scored some quick runs again today in the second team's win, I'd expect him to start tomorrow. Podmore added four more wickets to his 65 not out, maybe he'll come in for Gorvin? Details of the 2nd's win here.

I think there’s a degree of Bazball thinking going on with Byrom, I’m guessing he’s been told that there won’t be consequences for him if he gets out auickly in T20 cricket, but there comes a time when it becomes counter productive and we seem to have reached it now. Podmore’s been a very poor signing up to now, but I think I’d give him a try now.
