I'm shit at translating Trump so could any of the gifted and talented class interpret what this means for democracy? I guess all those predictions about the WEF taking over the world two years later at the latest, and the massive Deagal depopulation next year are off the table for starters?

Re: The Donald Trump thread
Trump's VP pick JD Vance has a wife who isn't white, and that has disgruntled some of Trump's supporters who found that disappointing.
Which leaves Vance in a tricky position. On the one hand, it's his wife and the mother of his children getting threatened. But on the other hand...they are voters!
So he has done a really great job in walking the tightrope. A masterclass.

Vance on attacks on his wife: "Obviously, she’s not a white person, and we’ve been accused, attacked by some white supremacists over that. Usha Vance has faced a slew of far-right attacks targeting her Indian heritage following her husband’s nomination to the Republican ticket.
“Who is this guy, really? Do we really expect that the guy who has an Indian wife and named their kid Vivek is going to support white identity?” prominent white supremacist Nick Fuentes said of Vance after former President Trump announced his running mate.
Fuentes was invited to Mar-a-Lago by Trump in November 2022, stirring a firestorm of criticism.

Re: The Donald Trump thread
Two weeks in and already Trump's "I only hire the bestest people" mantra looks nonsense. Let's be clear that he had a choice between appointing a potential VP that broadened the ticket. Instead, scarred by Mike Pence (himself a reinforcement of the Christian constituency) having a pair of independent bollocks when Trump needed an undemocratic follower has gone for a "born again" Trumpist lickspittle who will slavishly do his bidding.
But so far his most notable baggage has been rabidly taking a line on the Supreme Court take down of Roe vs Wade that is way to the right of the line that Trump is trying to steer and endorsing books by the dangerous Project 25 loonies that Trump swears he has never heard of.
For the Democrats, if Carlsberg did potential Republican VPs.......

Are you trying to say that former Catholic Mike Pence was not now (and also when Trump originally selected him) "born again" himself (?)

I can honestly say I’ve never heard the phrase ‘born again Catholic’.

Read what I said, "former Catholic Mike Pence", not a Catholic who is also 'born again'.
Pence was already 'born again' and had rejected the RCC when he was initially selected by Trump.

"I call complete BS"
San Francisco's former mayor Willie Brown has dismissed as "fiction" Donald Trump's story that they once endured a scary helicopter trip together.
The former president said on Thursday that he and Mr Brown "went down" in a helicopter together and Mr Brown was "a little concerned".
"We thought maybe this was the end," Trump said. "We were in a helicopter... and there was an emergency landing. This was not a pleasant landing."
Mr Brown, 90, told US media he had never shared a helicopter with Trump, adding: "I don't think I'd want to ride on the same helicopter with him".
Trump, 78, appeared to be confusing Mr Brown with Jerry Brown, California's former governor, with whom he shared a helicopter ride in 2018 to visit the aftermath of the Paradise wildfires. Gavin Newsom, the current state governor, was also on the flight.
Both men told US media there was no emergency landing or danger. "I call complete BS," Mr Newsom told The New York Times.

Recent polls swinging against him. He's getting more and more desperate...and befuddled.

The WEF has replaced the UN as the entity supposedly taking over the globe. I remember coming across some so-called militia men in Arizona who camping on an official tourist campsite, rigged out in combat gear, ready to take up arms against the UN and relating that European leaders were all commies. Thatcher was our PM at the time.

I see the polls show it's neck and neck in Arizona now which is better news. If Harris continues this momentum I see her bagging all the battleground states maybe with the exception of Georgia. If my calculations are correct that may be enough despite it looking like she'll lose Florida.

Classy Don at it again.....and not a fajita in sight!
“That’s the highest award you can get as a civilian. It’s the equivalent of the congressional Medal of Honor, but civilian version,” Trump told attendees at an event at his Bedminister, N.J. club, attended by GOP mega donor Miriam Adelson, who was awarded the Medal of Freedom in 2018.
“It’s actually much better, because everyone who gets the congressional Medal of Honor, that’s soldiers, they’re either in very bad shape because they’ve been hit so many times by bullets, or they’re dead. She gets it, and she’s a healthy, beautiful woman,” Trump said in reference to Adelson. “And they’re rated equal.”

Not even Boris Johnson would claim that Evgeny Lebedev getting a peerage for his donor services to blue rosettes was the equivalent (or better than) someone winning a Victoria Cross.

Re: The Donald Trump thread
https://www.theguardian.com/books/ar...cmaster-memoir
Vladimir Putin exploited Donald Trump’s “ego and insecurities” to exert an almost mesmeric hold over the former US president, who refused to entertain any negative evaluation of the autocratic Russian leader from his own staff, and ultimately fired his national security adviser, HR McMaster, over it.
The bold assessment of Trump’s fealty to Putin comes in McMaster’s book At War With Ourselves: My Tour of Duty in the Trump White House, published by HarperCollins and arriving on 27 August. The Guardian obtained a copy.
“After over a year in this job, I cannot understand Putin’s hold on Trump,” McMaster says in the memoir covering the turbulent 457 days the now retired general served as national security adviser from February 2017 until he was effectively fired by tweet in April 2018.
The comment, to McMaster’s wife, Katie, came in the aftermath of the poisoning in the UK by Putin’s agents of Sergei Skripal, a Russian former intelligence officer, and his daughter, in March 2018.
While other western leaders were beginning to formulate a strong response to the assassination attempt, McMaster says, Trump sat in the White House fawning over a New York Post article with the headline: Putin heaps praise on Trump, pans US politics. Trump, according to the book, wrote an appreciative note on the article with a black Sharpie and asked McMaster “to get the clipping to Putin”.

Is RFK going to drop out tomorrow and endorse Trump ? Apparently the democratic !!!!! Party hasn't shown that much democracy to him and is suing his arse in a number of states to stop him being on the ballot, the words of his side squeeze not mine.

Re: The Donald Trump thread
He only went and did it!!!, I thought his speech was brilliant. If the Dems had only opened a ballot, he would have walked it, a far better choice than than either Harris or Trump his Segway on the health of young children was outstanding, obviously Trump has had to concess something to get his endorsement and a major role in the next Trump administration will follow, the Dems have kicked themselves in the bollox with this monumental F up, they'll not be able to win this conventionally. He totally eviscerated the Democratic!!! party with their in perpetuity wars, censorship and the influence of Big Pharma, he may have also put a target on his own head.
