Anderson Wood and Robinson all to come in though.

Everything crossed hoping for the Aussies to win every test.

It'll be Mo. Key, Stokes, Mo and Rash(!) met in a hotel in London. I wouldn't be surprised if Mo turns out for Warwickshire on Sunday.

Literally every penny of Cricket Wales' funding comes from the ECB.

Re: Official Ashes Thread
Just heard an interesting name on a podcast to be England’s spinner in this series - Sophie Eccleston :hehe:.

Mo is the obvious choice really. Bags of experience, similar strike rate and average to Leach.

He's not played a red ball game since Sep 21, though. He really should play on Sunday if he wants to play next Friday.

Re: Official Ashes Thread
Australia annihilating India at present , Scott Boland looks unplayable at the moment, England will need some luck and a fit bowling attack to win the Ashes

Re: Official Ashes Thread
Here we go.
Ben Stokes wins the toss and chooses to bat.

Re: Official Ashes Thread
So far, so good but a long way to go.
Informed opinion is that the wicket is an absolute road so 450 is probably a score to aim for.
Weather anticipated on Sunday is a worry.

393-8 declared in 78 overs
Root 118*
Interesting

Re: Official Ashes Thread
Moronic decision, absolutely Moronic. May get lucky I suppose and take a couple of wickets, but with root still in there were a potential 100 more runs. I backed the Aussies so I'm happy with it mind !

Seems a bit cocky

Re: Official Ashes Thread
It’s what England do these days - I wouldn’t have done it, but eleven wins in thirteen matches is an impressive record. England looked toothless in those few overs at the end though, I wonder how much bowling Stokes can do?

Re: Official Ashes Thread
If hes fit they should have picked Wood.

Re: Official Ashes Thread
What do we reckon. Australia 350-2 by the close. Wicket looks dead.
I think England needed at least 50 more on that wicket.
Saying that great entertainment for the crowd and a very brave and positive declaration.
Hopefully Broad can knock Warner over early but Smith on dead wicket against a one paced attack I fear he will enjoy himself today.
England bowl them out under 450 and its anyones.

Re: Official Ashes Thread
More I think about it, the worse that declaration looks. It was almost the antithesis of what it was trying to be. Rather than being uncomfortable for the Aussies it would have been a relief. England out for less than 400, when they would have been worried about an attacking Joe root potentially pushing on. It was clear blue skies so not exactly hard conditions for the aus openers to come out in. Joe Root was pinging reverse scoops into the stands FFS, surely the aggressive option is to let the batters continue to play T20 style and really demoralise the openers . A monumentally stupid decision.
Broad gets Warner. Again

Re: Official Ashes Thread
Ball is swinging. Good ball by Broad for the 2nd but poor shots. Has Bazball got into the convicts heads.

Re: Official Ashes Thread

Like ponting said Smith has been struggling in the 2nd division of the County championship. Is that because the bowling is better? Obviously not its because for a player like him slow weak bowling can be harder to deal with.

Re: Official Ashes Thread
Brilliant Smith gone. England well on top now.
