Re: HUDDERSFIELD PROMOTED
A shame for Pearcey and Gunter but otherwise probably the best result.
Re: HUDDERSFIELD PROMOTED
Anyone know if the Huddersfield chairman is ok?
Looked like he was having a stroke when the penalties were being taken.
Re: HUDDERSFIELD PROMOTED
Huddersfield now promoted on penalties from League Two, League One and Championship.
Re: HUDDERSFIELD PROMOTED
Has any team ever been promoted before after having a negative goal difference?

Great question. Brighton were the last team to make the play offs with a negative goal difference in the 1990-91 season but did not get promotion.
Huddersfield are the first to do it and clearly, it is very rare.
Re: HUDDERSFIELD PROMOTED
What a dismal day. Thats the last play off final for me. Sick of always losing them
Huddersfield were marginally the better in a dire game. We were too negative.Didn't see the last two pens as I had walked out knowing exactly what was going to happen. It is the Reading way.
A horrible way for an entire season's work to go down the drain.

Commiserations Pearcey.
It is a sickening feeling - we know.

I will never forget that feeling after Blackpool gubbed us - as soon as Bothroyd went off I was resigned to our fate. At least you wont get sick of being on last on MOTD every week whilst being patronised by Shearer. I would add watching your team defend for most of the game but if Stam stays there you'll no doubt get a bit more of that anyway...... (a joke probably not appreciated for a bit)
Re: HUDDERSFIELD PROMOTED
Binman all I can say is that we specialise in this. In 1995 we finished second yet had to into the play offs because that season the PL was reduced to 20 teams. In the final we were two up against Bolton with a pen to go three up. It was missed and we lost 4-3 in extra time. Then Cardiff 2001 the League one final against Walsall. We were winning 2-1 in extra time and managed to lose 3-2 with their winner being a clearance which rebounded off our winger and into our net.
Then Swansea in 2011. Add on two semi final failures and losing in the FA Cup semi final to Arsenal in extra ****ing time when Feds let a soft shot under his body and to be honest I have had my fill.
I will remain a STH but the play offs can do one

Vowed, after losing to Blackpool, that if we (City) ever got to the play off final again, I would not go.
To lose a cup final, is bad enough, BUT to lose a play off final is sickening

Yep and when you have lost four play off finals its enough for me. I don't enjoy the day because the entire season rests on that single match.
