Something rarely mentioned is that commercial channels need to compete with the BBC. Lots of BBC shows are shit, of course, but there is brilliant stuff like Attenborough and Brian Cox docs, comedies, dramas. Lose the BBC and the bar drops, the commercials will only fill it with more love island rating winners, or imports.
It's not a plot to the stop the BBC, it's a plot to finish the BBC. This isn't pie in the sky rubbish either, they've bloody said it.
