But McCarthy is not coming on a 6 month deal

Difficult one. Mick is likeable and will probably steady the ship but can't help but think this is a missed opportunity. I think you can be pretty sure that we aren't going down and we aren't going up so any new manager would have had time to embed change.
Can the board learn. We had the same old for like half a decade! Never gonna progress at this rate...
They have done this to save money on the new mangers kit and coat, as he can use Malky Mackay's now. :hehe:
I actually really like Mick McCarthy as a bloke. Funny, no nonsense, old school. But this is a terrible footballing decision with no foresight. They must be really worried about relegation.
Nothing wrong with this CV :
Cardiff have turned to the vastly experienced McCarthy, who has won promotion to the Premier League with Sunderland and Wolves over the course of a managerial career dating back to 1992.
He has also had two stints in charge of the Republic of Ireland and managed Ipswich between 2012 and 2018.
His Ipswich sides were half decent .
better punt than Pulis or even Sparky ??
As usual our managerial appointments are a bit like new years eve, bit of excitement then the massive anti climax. Least this was less than a day.
Banter club. I'm sure in 18 months we will be back here again.
Still, welcome Mick, hope you prove us wrong but we probably may as well have kept Warnock, then Harris might as well have stopped also.
Think overall its not even about Mccarthy himself, the fans just want something new, something to get behind.
If the board have any semblance of football knowledge, this appointment has to be a steady-the-ship, short-term deal only.
I've always supported the owner but if no effort is made by VT or the board to employ a management team that can finally deliver a decent brand of football, all their efforts to fill the ground will be wasted, as even diehard fans will start to pull the plug.
I read on The Athletic that Villa often put information out there that may not always be true so they could gauge fans opinions and get a feel for how things might be taken.
I'm hoping this is a similar case.
But it's cardiff so he'll have a 3 year contract and we'll be playing worse football than under slade.
I think I could actually walk away and not glance over my shoulder if this actually happens, not so much Mccarthy but a succession of shit managers with no real vision of a future, they just keep on rolling the dice and there's no actual plan is there..
I've learned to leave the negative stuff behind (hence not posting on here for ages- don't worry board moaners/police I won't be here long) and Cardiff city has become a negative for me recently, and it's not healthy to carry that negative baggage around.
Praying this doesn't happen.
Underwhelmed is the word I'm looking for.
However, his experience will give him the knowledge of how to change things during a game, and also the ability to gel and motivate a squad. Both of which Harris has been woefully short of.
Not the long term vision we were all looking for, but an improvement (fingers crossed) on what we had.
Quite happy with that, think he'll get the best out of this squad.
Let's give him a chance for ****s sake.
Is there anyone the club could hire where some posters wouldn't say "give him a chance for f**k's sake".
BBC Breaking: 'Cardiff City Hire Hitler's Ghost to Replace Neil Harris'
CCMB: "Bunch of moaners on here, give him a chance for f**k's sake".
