Don't remember the train being evil but the welcome along the streets to the ground from Pompey fans was - I remember thinking they all looked like proper men and not many from our escort made any attempts to say hallo
Specials to me were a young person thing and not special at all
Maybe those City fans who travelled up independently by car, mini-bus, or perhaps even supporters' busses, might have encountered trouble before the game, I don't know.
What I do know was the three train-loads of fans who were escorted to the ground didn't encounter any problems. There were no Portsmouth fans anywhere to be seen, apart from the small group across from the station who soon moved away.
I recall walking past blocks of flats and some of the residents looking out of the windows in curiosity, but that was it.
