I remember the lockdowns started just after the last ones were leaving us.

People look too much into this. I agree the world is unstable, but when in the last 100 years was it not? When in the last 500 years was it not?
World war one, stock market crash, rise of fascism, world war 2, iron curtain, spread of communism, threat of nuclear apocalypse, Korea, Vietnam, Cambodia, end of communism in Europe, rise of China, climate issues, endless wars in the middle east, Israel and Palestine, Russia and Ukraine...
The threat of chaos is the norm isnt it? Seems the 1990s was perhaps a bit of a sweet spot and the rebirth of many democracies in Eastern Europe etc, but we didn't know how that would pan out and in itself only set up what we have seen in Georgia and now Ukraine.
I know it sounds depressing, but I do think "the end is nigh" crowd sometimes wear rose tinted specs
Date setters come and go, with the Watchtower taking pole position in that regard. The 'wars and rumours of wars' have been a feature for a couple of thousands years and more. That is a marker but only part of the equation. For those know who the end players are set to be and how the key nation is positioned in that end-game scenario; they have a far clearer picture of how close we are.
Having watched and studied both since the late 1970's, the key nations have moved on rapidly towards where they are finally meant to be.
It would need to be in a sentence before it could ever become hyperbole. I can understand why any speculation re WW3 would be unsettling many people, but rest assured, it will probably start and end before anyone gets the chance to begin a new thread.

China are also fitting into place - GLOBAL NEWS (11th July 2024) reported:
"China accused NATO on Thursday of seeking security at the expense of others and told the alliance not to bring the same “chaos” to Asia, a reflection of its determination to oppose strengthening ties between NATO members and Asian nations such as Japan, South Korea and the Philippines.
The statement by a Foreign Ministry spokesperson came a day after NATO labeled China a “decisive enabler” of Russia’s war against Ukraine.
“NATO hyping up China’s responsibility on the Ukraine issue is unreasonable and has sinister motives,” spokesperson Lin Jian said at a daily briefing. He maintained that China has a fair and objective stance on the Ukraine issue.
China has broken with the United States and its European allies over the war in Ukraine, refusing to condemn Russia’s invasion or even to refer to it as an act of aggression in deference to Moscow."
