He's brought in to improve the attack under Bulut (having been sacked at Watford, who were awful last season). The team scores one goal in six games and yet he gets a promotion.
A couple of decent home wins against two of the very worst sides in the division and people start getting excited for no apparent reason. A fortunate draw at West Brom followed by a lucky win over a Norwich side who should have been at least 3-0 up midway through the second half, and then reality actually kicks in. No wins in five games. Three miserable defeats in that time.
Nevertheless, the supply teacher gets the job on a permanent basis despite there being some genuinely decent candidates out there.

Regardless of the fan's disappontment, I still believe there's enough quality in the squad for Riza to work with. There are no guarantees any manager, even those with previous Championship experience will make any significant difference to the way we play or the results we achieve. If the players enjoy playing for Riza, and the signs are they do, that's a massive positive to be taken from his appointment.
We're pretty well all underwhelmed by this appointment and the time it's taken to make the decision.
I think all now depends if he can get a tune out of the players over the next few weeks. I he can and with a couple of new faces in Jan we will be OK. If not, the grim reaper will be calling sooner than Riza expects.
I can understand the reaction from some, but I hope he does well.
The first manager to show some genuine attacking intent in years - an under him we are already a mid table team when we looked completely sunk without a trace under Bulut.
There's still obvious areas we can improve as well.
Results have been mixed - and we've been a bit unlucky at times lately (although we did have some good luck when we had a good run too)
Hopefully this stability can allow us to kick on even further - adding to the coaching staff would seem like a good idea. and of course if there's a way to strengthen a couple of positions in January that wouldn't hurt either.
Another positive is he's willing to play some of the younger talents - Colwill, Robertson, Tanner and Bagan have had some decent game time - Ashford and Reindorf some bench time. Etete and Davies still to come back.
That's as positive a picture as we have had in terms of the future of the club in some time - throw in Fish and Daland at centre back and some of the other youngsters on the finges too
That's more or less how I see it. If he gets a few wins and puts a bit of space between us and the bottom three then we should be OK in the short term. We all know that it's the long term strategy that needs to be addressedQuote:

Under Bulut though we looked completely out of our depth - people were saying the players were nowhere near enough - no pace in the side, no goal threat -to get something that at least works some of the time out of that mess is a decent job.

The thing that stands out to me in that statement is "has youth and ability at its core" - is there any evidence that Riza is different in the slightest from our other managers here? Consistently picking Meite and Kanga in squads over the likes of Ashford and Reindorf would suggest not - his treatment of Ashford who had one off performance from the bench after being a key spark in late comebacks vs Southampton and Norwich is particularly poor IMO.
Maybe you can argue now he's got the job on a bit more of a permanent basis he can afford to give youth a bit more of a look, but if Tan wants a team based around youth he's probably got to make sure he's putting a structure in place where we aren't in the shite and looking to appoint a new manager every six months first.
He's given Colwill and Tanner regular starting places unlike Bulut. Rumour has it that Bulut wanted Gary Bell to come out of retirement in case Ng got injuredQuote:
