Re: FAC. FT: Crystal Palace 1 - 0 Man City
I remember when the FA cup was a whole day event and meant something.

It means a hell of a lot to those Palace fans.

They had a worse start to the season than us. We had 4 points after 8 games, they had just 3.

The decline of the FA Cup is down to numerous factors such as the huge number of European games, the Premier League, the increased importance placed on league games at all levels, too much football (both on and off TV) in general, the play-offs system, the lack of FA Cup prize money, etc.
Here's a question for everyone: if you could only watch one, which game would you prefer to watch - the FA Cup final or the Championship play-off final?

"It's a Knockout", special "Question of Sport" between supporters

That reminds me of what I thought was a very good edition of "Jim'll Fix It" broadcast prior to the cup final. It featured the making of the match ball and its journey to Wembley. I was no great fan of Savile because of his enormous conceit but thought he was good with the kids! Perhaps I should have posted this in the "What did you get wrong" thread.

So a team that has never won a major competition before wins their first cup, beating the most successful side in recent history in the final. Seems like there's a little bit of magic left in it yet despite some grumpy old men on here :hehe:

Yeah, but the game kicked off at 4:30pm, so it’s basically worthless. Game’s gone, modern life is rubbish, it was much better decades ago, blah blah blah.

You’re like a dog with a bone Let it go. Nobody’s losing any sleep over the kick off time. The OP was just wondering why it was so late, that’s all. Nothing more nothing less.
Life will go on tomorrow.
Sorry for being a bit nostalgic. It won’t happen again.
