I've said we need a veteran defender to lead the back-line, a wing-back or two, a winger like Poku from Peterborough, another keeper and some reinforcements in midfield. I'd also like O'Dowda to actually get a chance to play on the attacking wing again, he was pretty good at it, but has been forced to play wing-back.
Get a left back in. It's not rocket science.

Re: Retained list announced
It would be remiss if the club did not insert relegation clauses into CO'D & CR's contract extensions; it would be equally poor if their agents didn't insert a championship release clause for a nominal fee either.
You can see CO'D heading to Oxford, they boo'd him but he applauded them at the end when they played us and if CR is half as valuable as some of our fans think then a return to Preston wouldn't be a stretch of the imagination.
Willock hasn't looked happy since he arrived, and you'd hope that all those signed last season would have relegation clauses, so that may prompt them to look for new pastures. Wintle is nowhere near as bad as some of you think; he fell out with Bulut, but so did I as a fan.
Chambers is a funny one, going from a Premier League squad member to League One in 15 months must hurt his ego, and I was shocked to see he's only 30. Surely someone will offer to take him off us?
I wouldn't be surprised to see NG head to Singapore or SE Asia.
Assuming it is BBM then Turnbull must have found his type of manager, that will be interesting.
The quicker the manager is announced the better for everyone

Re: Retained list announced
Id sell O Dowda and Robinson with decent offers.
Chambers can't see anyone taking him for free or Willock. Hope I'm wrong.
Turnbull as well.

Do you really think in the current football economy anybody would pay a transfer fee for either of them?
I honestly think half the trouble at CCS and in the stands is a lack of accepting facts. These two were an integral part of a team that finished bottom of the table. Why on earth would club's be queuing up to pay fees when there are so many free agents on the market and looking for clubs?
We have made so many expensive mistakes over recent years it is mind blowing.
Hopefully the new manager can install some sense and sensibility.

No I'm not convinced we will get offers. But those are 2 I wouldn't release on frees so if there is interest id want a fee. Decent offer id sell.
Chambers Willock Horvarth Turnbull just get them off the books.

Pure guess work on my behalf, but he is becoming a Singapore citizen and I wonder if his playing over there may be part of the deal

Playing for the Singapore national team is a bit different to playing in a league over there

Yes - but it proves where his loyalty lies and where is interests are!
I now on here we are not allowed to say anything negative about players but Ng has been a shadow of his former self for over 12 months.

He didn't have the best start to the season, but I'd have him ahead of Rinomhota at RB any day of the week.
If we change to a back 3 he's one of our best players in that role too.
One of our best passers, best set piece takers and one of our best goalkeepers too :hehe:

Re: Retained list announced
Rjk said Ng is one of our best goalkeepers too!
You are not wrong there - we need a decent custodian asap. Build from the back.

We have not played anything like total football since Dave Jones' days.

Re: Retained list announced
Turnbull is one I would like to see staying, I honestly don’t think he had enough of a decent run for me to be really negative about him,yes we need the grafters but perhaps he could give us something a little bit different in League 1.

In my opinion it was the most attractive football we have played since 1975/6 - (my favourite season).

This. For those of us who follow the U20's it was a surprise that he made the 1st team and his inspirational 10 minute burst against Southampton a greater surprise still. It was completely the correct decision to release him.

Have you read Paul's book on that season? Without doubt, the best bit of literature ever written on our club.
By the way I agree with you. It was a great season

Blimey, thanks very much!
So, if I were to nip over to Amazon, where Tony Evans Walks on Water is still available I believe, and add your testimonial as a review attributed to one of the stars of the 75/76 side, I wouldn’t be lying would I? :hehe:
