Quite right. I expect the £33 Bristol charged had potential damage priced in.

Re: Ashton Gate vandalism - extra £1 on all away tickets.
I appreciate the board don’t have a clue how to run a football club but this really is stupid even by their standards. Their most loyal supporters, who had absolutely nothing to do with the vandalism, now have to pay for the damage on behalf of the “anti-social and criminal actions of a minority” who won’t be turning up until the next high profile hooligan game!
These vandals are not supporters and are highly unlikely to be members of “Cardiff City Supporter Bodies”. During their “consultation” with the club did these supporters groups really think their members would agree it’s fair that after supporting their team away and having their toilets smashed up they should then be told its their responsibility to pay for the damage on behalf of the criminal scum who did it?

I have absolutely no doubt in my mind that a huge amount of additional money was spent on a large police presence for the visit of Cardiff.
What the feck were they doing when all this was going on?
Not only should the police have been around to nullify the vandalism but they should be around to safeguard the public from these drugged up louts.
IMHO the police should pay at least half the bill for their poor performance

What’s the point moaning about this on a MB? It’s always been the way, throughout history. It’s the easiest and laziest way, to make the majority pay, for the actions of the minority.

If you are not happy with the club's idea then write to them - no point in whining on this MB. Of course that requires effort which some might find a little too difficult if used to just firing off a few sentences electronically.
I should imagine if Dalman and/or Choo suddenly received a few thousand letters in the post then they might just get the message!

Re: Ashton Gate vandalism - extra £1 on all away tickets.
while of course the idea is wrong, and the club have a bit of a cheek to do it, it is only £1 , thats not even a can of coke, I am sure it is a very very small % of the cost of a away day outing

I hear you Hartley, I was coming more from the principle than the personality so the way I see it is if these dickheads are not challenged by our own fans then they think it's the norm. I pulled a guy for driving like a fecking idiot down my street last night- sure it should be down to the old bill but you never see one when you need em.

I hear what you’re saying mate I just think to ask the average Joe to confront these morons is asking for trouble. They are full of lager and gear and being aggressive. I’d say the majority of people on here and social media saying “why did the ones standing around / filming not do anything?” wouldnt have done anything themselves.

How do you know that those people aren't regular supporters or wont be going until the next ‘hooligan game’ ? Its called collective responsibility anyway. Its up to the majority of loyal fans to help stop this type of thing happening, instead of just standing by, watching and laughing, which in itself helps give them the recognition and publicity they crave.

Exactly. If a fan confronted these morons and was attacked, leaving them potentially needing hospital treatment and taking time off work to recover, I doubt the club would stick a pound on the ticket price to cover their loss of earnings, or to pay privately for any treatment. They'd soon distance themselves from it.

It’s the principle no one gives a shit about the actual cost. A company with a billionaire owners that’s just sold an asset for a few million asking normal working people to shell out for something they didn’t do.
And people saying about self policing must be ****ing high, who’s going into a toilets being smashed up by 20 dick heads and asking them to stop?
They have a culprits on video, why not extort them instead?

I agree. The disappointing thing for me is the way it's 'dismissed' as anti-social behavior (ASB). What I mean by that is that for all ASB there are victims. The club and the EFL don't talk about these aspects and the impact of the behaviour on other people. Even the ticket price increase has an impact and creates victims of ASB. It shouldn't be dismissed as a mere financial problem to be solved.
The club and the EFL should highlight what something like the trashing of toilets does to people. The impact on disabled people for example. The degradation and humiliation of piss*ing or sh*tting yourself. They should humanise the impact and not dress it solely as a financial problem to overcome.
They should consult properly with the supporter's clubs and disability groups and get statements and publish them on the club website and give WOL a press release.
There are other things that just don't make sense either. The footage. Facial recognition software? The fact that many ST holders couldn't get tickets (I wanted to go but couldn't) clearly tickets ended up in the wrong hands. Why isn't the club investigating this aspect? Why aren't they naming the fans who have been issued bans? How long are these bans?
I went to Wembley for a match a few years ago and there were sniffer dogs checking the ticket lines. JR quite rightly highlighted that cocaine use is a societal problem. If it's a problem at football then shouldn't the police and clubs be doing something about it?
This was a massive Health & Safety issue and requires a thorough investigation. Self-policing is not an option and shouldn't be encouraged. The police and stewards are there for OUR protection and ensure events like this don't happen. Who is asking the questions as to why this happened the way it did?
This is so much bigger than whacking a few quid on the price of an away ticket and really needs to be challenged by the groups I've mentioned as well as fans on an individual basis. I'm going to send a copy of this post to the club. Mrs C will do the same. I suggest others let the club know that they're creating victims of this ASB and making innocent people pay for it. I'm totally against it.

This isn't directed at you Jon.
I think that statement's weak.
"It is hugely unfortunate that because of the substantial cost of repairs to the toilets at Ashton Gate an additional charge of £1 will be added to ticket booking fees for those attending future away games."
If fans accept this then we'll be forever asked to foot the bill for the 'small minority. Where does it end?
"It is hugely unacceptable that because of the substantial cost of repairs to the toilets at Ashton Gate an additional charge of £1 will be added to ticket booking fees for those attending future away games" is the statement that should be there.

Re: Ashton Gate vandalism - extra £1 on all away tickets.
The club or the innocent fans shouldn't have to pay a penny. Once the culprits are caught they should pay for all the damage caused.

I understand the principle of it, maybe someone at the club thinks the principle is that VT shouldn't have to pay it either  and why should he ? ? ?
as JtJ has said he will pay the £1 for you, just let hm know, he doesn't do online banking though, so just message him your address and he will chuck a quid in the post for you

Because he owns the football club, why should I have to pay it? Im going to millwall but wasnt at Bristol, why should I have to pay for knuckle draggers when they are known to the club? The club has them on video and their names from buying tickets. We aren’t school kids don’t try and make people behave with this ridiculous behaviour.
£1 is nothing I’d gladly pay it for all 1000 rather than this ridiculous load of nonsense. Why can’t you understand it’s not about the money? from a PR standpoint and for the principal it’s about as stupid as it gets.
Do you honestly think this is a good thing for the club to be doing?

That’s how it always has been. Track the fans down and make the pay is how it should be.
I don’t want the club or Vincent tan to actually pay it but it makes less sense asking other fans to foot the bill.

I just think the club are sending out a message that there will be consequences if you don't behave. It's a minimal penalty.
-
Re: Ashton Gate vandalism - extra £1 on all away tickets.
Scenario 1:
Some nutters trash the toilets in St Davids Centre.
Every time you want to shop in the centre, you're charged before they let you through the door in order to pay for the damage.
Scenario 2:
I buy a business.
I take out insurance.

Sounds like there are consequences for going to a match whether you behave or not

Even if you didn't go to Ashton Gate but go away again this season you'll get punished. The club could have restricted any future extra charges to those whose purchase history includes a ticket for Bristol, but thought it a wise move to include those who didn't go aswell.

I understand its not about the money, not sure why you appear to think I dont, if it bothers your principles that much, dont go
as for the PR of it, it wasn't a good look that some of our fans trashed the place either
Do you honestly think this is a good thing for the club to be doing?
Ive never said its a good thing for the club to do either, Im not getting as worked up about it as you though, that maybe thats why you think that

Re: Ashton Gate vandalism - extra £1 on all away tickets.
Tell you what - why don't we all back a ban of any of our fans attending away games for the rest of the season. That would be the likely outcome if anything like this happened again anyway. It would solve the problem and avoid the need for the club to charge a massive £1 surcharge.

How is the £1 charge stopping that?
Why not do something like this instead and just get the guys who did it to pay for it.
