Jesus wept!!!! That’s what I’m talking about. When he said “ to hell with the rest of the world” you and I and everyone else on this board don’t know what context he said it in. If he literally meant he didn’t like anyone from abroad, then he’s there to be shot at. If he meant it in a way that the rest of the world should keep their noses out of Brexit, then that’s different.
As usual, the kicking boys on here steam in without knowing the facts.

We do know the context because he said it in a press conference in front of cameras.

I don’t get this “it’s just a throw away comment” us leaving effects the rest of the world so why should they keep their noses out?

I know.
Most of the people who voted to leave, wanted the UK to be able to negotiate fairer trade deals with emerging markets and was nothing to do with being pissed off with hearing foreign accents in Greggs.

According to Croesy, nobody outside of the UK gives a jot. They’re all laughing at us. Which is it?

Out of context means you see a sentence without any others. Here we can see the whole thing.
It's pretty clear he's saying Britain doesn't need the EU or anyone else for that matter. I don't even know what "the rest of the world should keep their noses out of brexit" is supposed to mean.

Re: Warnock comes across as a tory and a xenophobe
Fwiw Warnock will be on the bastion of left wing journalism the talk sport breakfast show so I would imagine that they'll bring it up then.

He is entitled to his opinion even though if I strongly disagree with him!
However, as the manager of a premier league football club with an international playing squad, international management team and diverse fan base it was a stupid thing to say and stupid timing.

Re: Warnock comes across as a tory and a xenophobe
Funny how the uniter fans appears to be doing his upmost to break things again.
Would be fitting to have some EU flags down at the CCS for the next game.
At least the world will realise we aren't all of the same mind set.

Tend to agree but he is 70 and nobody is going to stop him so why make such a deal about it. I'd rather him entertaining me with his quips and outbursts than listening to some squares at the FA and the PC brigade.
Keep it up boss:wave:

As many, if not more, Labour suppporters want brexit and are anti-foreigner than Conservative ones. What difference does it make anyway, if we started vetting people who enter the area or worked for the club based on their political leanings or moral beliefs, the games would be held in a half empty stadium and particularly, your seat would definately be empty.
You are totally incorrect. In the EU Referendum around 60% of Labour supporters voted Remain. That figure has now increased according to recent polling to at least 70% Remain. In contrast around 75% of Conservative voters wanted to Brexit. So in summary most Labour supporters are a Remainers and most Tories are Leavers.

I think stating that I am totally incorrect is over stating it a tad. It is my opinion and you have yours. There can be no doubt that many Labour supporters backed Brexit. Opinion polls are notoriously unreliable as well.

Have these people denied free speech and disagreed with democracy?

You are wrong. It’s not my opinion. It’s fact that 60% of Labour supporters voted Remain in 2016. Do some checks and you will find this out for yourself.

Or that while the national result of the referendum was relatively close, with 52% voting Leave and 48% voting Remain, a much larger majority of parliamentary seats voted to Leave – with 64% of seats in Great Britain voting Leave

70% of Conservative constituencies and 60% of Labour constituencies voted to Leave in the EU referendum.

Yep but a lot of those Labour leave constituencies have now switched to Remain according to all recent polling whereas the Tory held constituencies are still Leave supporting.

The polling before the referendum suggested a massive victory for remain
They are so inaccurate it’s almost pointless
-
Re: Warnock comes across as a tory and a xenophobe
I notice the only people that actually cared what he said are remain voting people.
For the 52% it’s a non story

No it didn’t. The polls were showing Leave leads in the run up to the Referendum.

That’s because the people who voted out tend to be imbeciles :yikes:
Only joking :hide:

Yes those remain voting people that will bite on anything pro-brexit.
For the 52% and the electorate that couldn’t bother to vote, a non-story

...and those who didn't vote in the referendum who just believe that our manager would have been much better off making one of his light-hearted quips or just keep his personal views on such a divisive topic to himself when he's representing the club.
The club obviously agree with that sentiment too, having had to release their own statement to distance themselves from his comments. It's a bit embarrassing really.

Wrong.

Re: Warnock comes across as a tory and a xenophobe
According to some on this thread, all the white wealthy men in their 70’s are to blame for the leave vote. There must be a lot of them to make up 52% of the vote.

I’m not suggesting anything. I’m merely asking where a boldly-stated piece of ‘information’ came from.

Shouldn’t this be moved to the political department ?I know Warnock made the comments but it is still a political debate ..
