We play against the big guns when the Nations League is played next time around. Plus there are three World Cup play off places available to those teams that win their League of Nations groups but don’t qualify or reach the play offs in the World Cup qualifiers. That might just come in handy.

Arguably, the better sides in Europe get the least out of the Nation's League (even they get chance to have their depth tested against best around Europe) and the sides currently less likely to be successful get the most: North Macedonia qualifying for first tournament ever, Scotland doing so for first time in 22 years, San Marino players crying with joy having gone two games unbeaten...
Positives from today:
- Neco, Rodon played well.
- Ward and 3-4-3 both got game time. Could 3-4-3 become our next formation?
- Bale played the best we've seen him for a while and someone else was our goal-scorer
- Very mature performance from Ampadu
- Some rest for Moore
- Hopefully, we don't play Ireland again for a long time
- A clean sheet, a win and Giggs' developing take on Van Gaal football should keep us competitive no matter who is on the pitch
Negative:
- Not thrilling and development still needed. 2021 is big year for football, including internationals, and hopefully we're leaving plenty in the tank for that period as I can only count 3 or 4 really good performances under Giggs. Still, winning games without performing to our best is pleasing.

Not enjoyed watching Wales for a while and think games like this against the likes of Ireland (not mugs but not world beaters) is probably as well as we will perform at the moment without a fully fit/decent form Ramsey and Bale. With those two we can do better.

Looking forward to seeing Je Allen fit into this team. Allen IMO should be the first name on the team sheet when fit. Think we have adapted superbly when missing key players. Something that never happened years ago. I think there are excirtng times ahead. Qualifying for a WC finals would be great progress.

yeah it's not the world cup but it's a very challenging trophy to win

Matt Doherty and James McLean have both tested positive for Covid after the Wales match. Luckily Doherty didn't get too close to Bale when he set up the Brookes goal - but a worry nonetheless.
