I was quite amazed at the stat that TLG posted, so I thought I'd see if I could put some skin on those bones.

The 4 regular starters that Huddersfield had last season are as follows:

Harry Toffolo and Lewis O'Brien, both signed by Nottingham Forest in the PL; Daniel Sinani, who was on loan from Norwich; Levi Samuels Colwill, who was on loan from Chelsea and is now on loan at Brighton. Sinani wasn't particularly prolific in front of goal, but notched up 6. The other 3 are playing at a higher level which might indicate they've been missed. They're missing their main left back, centre back and centre midfielder from last season. Between those 4 they had an average age of 23 last season.

Of the 8 players that remain, Sorba Thomas apart, the others can be loosely classed as football league journeymen. For some, playing in the Championship with Huddersfield is as good as it has got. The 8 that remained had an average age of 29 last season. 3 of them are in their 30s.

The new players with 20 or more starts are: Michael Helik, relegated a year ago with Barnsley; David Kasamu, signed from MK Dons after failing to make the grade there as a youngster; Jack Rudoni, signed from AFC Wimbledon again after struggling to make the grade in League 1; and Josh Ruffles, who spent a decade in League 1.

Basically, they're an ageing side who replaced players who went off to do better things with League 1 players.

They were battered 4-0 at home by Coventry - a side City drew 0-0 with in December. They drew 0-0 with Bristol City - a side City had beaten 2-0 a few days earlier. They lost 1-0 at West Brom - a side City drew 1-1 with in March. They drew 1-1 with Blackburn - a side that has lost the same number of games as Rotherham this season. They won 3-2 at Watford - City won 3-1 at Watford last night. Etc, etc.

If you remove the top four, who are clearly a good bit better than the rest, there is just six points between Millwall in 5th and Swansea in 13th. I don't believe a decent result against any one of those sides is any more creditable than a result against any of the others. They are all much of a muchness.

After 46 games last season, the most any of the top six had lost was 13. Millwall and Watford have already lost 14, Norwich and Preston have lost 15, and Blackburn and Swansea have lost 16. These are not great sides in a poor division. Beating any of them is no big deal.

I had said Warnock had done a good job and he has, I also said Sabri has done a good job, the post confirms they are similar.

As for not playing harder games, I went along with the narrative, I disagree but not enough to spend ten mins on here arguing about it.

By the time the season finishes each manager would have played 19 or 20 of the other 23 teams in the division. Neither has harder games its all much of a muchness.

But you werent talking about a 12 game "batch" when you come out with your opening gambit on the subject claiming they had "much harder fixtures left".

Which is simply not true. When Lamouchi took over he had all of top half still to pay except Blakcburn and Coventry, with the top 3 being away from home.

Quite how you come up with the statement that he Warnock had MUCH harder fixtures left I dont know.

I can just see our Neil invoking the spirit of Mark Lillis (Lillis 4, Town 4 Cardiff 0) and Frank Worthington. I think he also managed the Terriers when they transitioned from their old Leeds Rd fortress to the John Smith’s Stadium?

Bigger club than Leeds before revie came along

Pretty sure they had well over 30k when they played Leeds in 70/71? Also amazing crowds and noise when Jimmy Glazzard and Vic Metcalf strutting their stuff in the early 50s.

A few games ago they definitely had harder games left, and in the last 12 batch of games that TLG was referring too that's obvious to everyone bar Warnock haters who are just making stuff up.

Found it on page three, yes slightly but Sabri has had more games, and obviously far easier games, Warnock had a weaker team on a poorer run, he's done well, and so has Lamouchi!

It’s a nonsense statement anyway. One game - Blackpool away - you could consider as easier on paper, the rest of the fixtures are practically identical.
