Jordan James was exceptional tonight- deserved to be on the winning side.
Thought overall it was a decent showing, undone by refereeing incompetence.

Re: FT: WALES 1 - 1 TURKEY. Match thread
Call Rob an absolute embarrassment tonight
Page ex team mates and Rob defending him to the hilt. Get ****ed.
Iran are a good side according to Iwan Roberts. Dearie me.

Nation.cymru says we have to play three teams in the play offs
"Wales go into the March play-offs where a home semi-final against Finland, Iceland and Ukraine awaits."

Re: FT: WALES 1 - 1 TURKEY. Match thread
Connor Roberts had a horrendous two games and Page subs Wilson for James.......batshit crazy, manic Dan the 10

Not only has Lucy Owen told us we don't qualify for automatic promotion before the news ......she's gone and done it again 20 minutes later , just now
What a bunch of cowboys
Loads of money for that new building and they don't vet and pre edit important sports comments

Re: FT: WALES 1 - 1 TURKEY. Match thread
Page says hes still the man for the job and we might have only taken 1 point against Armenia but the 4 against Croatia balances it out.
Sorry Rob but it doesn’t because we only took 1 v Turkey, hence we finished 3rd.
PAGE OUT

Re: FT: WALES 1 - 1 TURKEY. Match thread
BBC Wales asking Rob Page if he believes he's the man for the job to take Wales into the play offs
He answers, understandably in my view with ...of course I am !
I expect fans phoning up the radio stations to have their say but I expect better from BBC Wales , it stinks of a public hanging in my opinion

You don't seriously think we should change the manager now do you ?
What sort of message does that send out and what sort of game time with the players will he have ?

One eyed Sludgey. Before that question Phillips, Blake and Roberts were defending him and swatting away callers who rang to make some very valid points about the whole campaign. Roberts defending his mate was up there up with Nadine Dorres staunch defence of anything critical of her beloved Boris it was that sickly.

It sends the message that 3 wins in 16 competetiv games, 2 of those against Latvia, is completely unacceptable.
We might as well put Dai Hunt in charge for the play offs, he couldn’t do any worse

The guy has been gifted the job and frankly botched it.
Wales can still be competitive, our players aren’t terrible.
Let’s go back to Denmark in the last Euros, our fortunate qualification for the World Cup and how the whole team seemed unfit and lacking ideas during the World Cup.
This campaign has been shocking though.
His decisions against Armenia were beyond awful. Let’s not forget that we lost at home against them as well.
I certainly think someone more tactically astute would have seen us qualify.
Chris Coleman, fell on his sword after the home defeat against Ireland.
Page should do the same.
Make Nathan Jones or Dai Hunt manager for all I care
(I would like to see Bellamy or someone with a good track record obviously).
Anyone is a better option than Page, we will regress massively under him if we stick with him.

What's going to happen if your valleys mukka Nathan Jones is put in place and he also blows it ?
Sack him then start again after Germany ?

Re: FT: WALES 1 - 1 TURKEY. Match thread
Turkey sacked their manger in September after an embarrassing home draw against Armenia and finish top. We get stuffed twice by Armenia, finishing 3rd.and we are happy to carry on regardless.

The FAW are skint

Re: FT: WALES 1 - 1 TURKEY. Match thread
If so then they'll be even more skint if we don't qualify.

That's far from guaranteed if we sack Page, either.
Page is getting a lot of flak, justifiably but some of the players have really let themselves down, too. I don't think Page is the answer but I don't think sacking him is a quick fix.

Seriously though, it's not like someone's grandma did that. It was done by a so-called professional. With access to the internet.

Re: FT: WALES 1 - 1 TURKEY. Match thread
If Page somehow gets us through the playoff he'll stay. If he doesn't I can see him going under some mutual agreement, that he thinks he's taken the squad as far as he can. He'll get a negotiated settlement.
For financial reasons I can't see him being sacked and having his contract fully paid up.

I don't understand why though?
We've qualified for 3 tournaments in the last 7 years and we regularly sell out our home games. And even though it's a 4 year contract, I'd be shocked (and appalled) if Page was on a big salary.
I think if Page loses in the play offs he goes. And it wouldn't be an unpopular decision, he's a pub league manager.

He’s talking bollocks, they have more funds now than they’ve ever had after the last 7 yrs of success

Apart from Osian Roberts are there any other candidates?
Page limitations were shown again last night. Too slow to react or counter the opposing teams change of shape, decision making in taking Wilson off is mystifying.
I've said it before, he appears a great bloke but far too nice and limited.

Re: FT: WALES 1 - 1 TURKEY. Match thread
Close but not quite enough there.
Some matches you can point to page, others we just simply lack enough quality.
We had plenty of these tight matches during our successful years. Difference is we had bale to pop up and be the difference.
Definitely think a better manager could set us up better in certain matches and I'm not sure what qualified him getting the job longer term but I think play offs is ultimately where this team should be so he should see them out.

Re: FT: WALES 1 - 1 TURKEY. Match thread
Our players last night,(against Turkey) looked as though they had met for the first time half hour before kick off !
Wrong runs, inter passing really poor, I thought they would really kick on after that Croatia display, but they seem to have gone backwards
-
Re: FT: WALES 1 - 1 TURKEY. Match thread
This might have been asked and answered already but was VAR in operation last night?
It wouldn’t have made any difference due to Croatia winning, but with the ref’s decision making being so erratic, especially on the penalty decisions, I presumed that VAR would step in.
There was no evidence on VAR in the ground. Hence my question. :-/

I wondered the same thing. TOBWs report suggests it was but, like you, saw no evidence of it.

Re: FT: WALES 1 - 1 TURKEY. Match thread
I enjoyed that match, despite the result.
We looked pretty good at times, Jordan James is a great addition to the midfield and Harry Wilson is a baller. Brennan Johnson has more needle about him than I previously thought too
Was entertaining though, Turkey and the Ref both played the pantomime villain parts well.
Probably wouldn't be saying that though if the dropped points had made any difference though

I’m not necessarily backing Page to stay on after 2024 but your second and last sentence doesn’t seem to stack up.

The fans should have been on the pitch if there was something on it.
Absolutely disgusting refereeing.

Re: FT: WALES 1 - 1 TURKEY. Match thread
Just watched highlights and didn't think we deserved a penalty at all. Only one made the highlights so the other two must have been really weak.Theirs was very very soft though and such stupid defending allowing him to make that decision

Thought we made a supposedly good Turkish team look very average first half….no doubt they had to improve though, helped no end by their 12th man who waved away a few blatant penalties. Easily been 2 up at half time.
