Grant should have scored.

Re: SOUTHAMPTON v CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
Much better in the last 10 mins. If only we weren't shit for the first 35.
-
Re: SOUTHAMPTON v CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
None of our forwards are good enough
It's a shame
But we need to get that keeper away from the gloves and sign a couple of new faces up front
-
Re: SOUTHAMPTON v CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
Best we can hope for is that the fog closes in and the ref abandons.
-
Re: SOUTHAMPTON v CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
Much better last 20 minutes.
With a bit of luck, we can get something from this game.
The effort is certainly there if not the application.
I’d bring on Colwill for Robinson.

Re: SOUTHAMPTON v CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
Watching the replay of the pelanty shout for the foul on Meite - definitely should have been a pelanty!

I wish we could send him back to WBA

Re: SOUTHAMPTON v CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
It's Siopis pretty much on his own in the middle, and lately he's become less effective. If Ramsey isn't going to return/soon, we're going to continue to struggle against all but the weakest sides..

Yup!
Grant, Meite, Ugbo... none of them instinctive enough.
Too many times we've said about this trio... "Should have done better there"!

It was outside the area...? but a definite foul and some sort of card..
-
Re: SOUTHAMPTON v CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
Just a question of us keeping the score down
-
Re: SOUTHAMPTON v CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
I keep thinking about where we'll be in January and whether it'll be a position that makes Tan get out the cheque book.

Was it? Even more surprising it wasn’t given then
-
Re: SOUTHAMPTON v CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
On the bright side....Swansea losing at home to Huddersfield 0-1 very near drop zone now...with QPR winning last two games after sacking Ainsworth...

Etete
None of them are up to it

With no fresh blood this side will be mid table easily enough and deffo safe
But if I was the boss I would be looking to change the forward line and get shot of that keeper
-
Re: SOUTHAMPTON v CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
With reference to the previous game as well, i would suggest that opposition coaches have worked out that the majority of our players cannot handle receiving the ball in close quarters with an opposing player, and just by simple squeezing our back 5 are effectively nullifying the rest of the team who are offering no movement or options with a resultant hoof from either LB or RB to a player up field who is so isolated from a supporting player and not able to hold on to the ball for our midfield players to catch up with play, the saints players often with more room are able to receive and pass in one movement without having to trap the ball take a step then having to look around for an option (3 movements) i see modern football as pace, receive pass move, receive pass move repeat to fade we are seemingly playing 5 metre balls back and forth across the back 4, with players retreating all the time to receive the ball thus conceding 75% of the field make it simple for the Saints to sweep up when an isolated player receives a long ball, If we are allowed to bully an opposition who stand off us then we look decent but as soon as the opposition fronts up in the face their doesn't seem an option to swicth things up.

Didn't want to start a new thread for this but my god:

Definitely give the keeper back.
Imo O'Dowda will be a huge improvement on Grant when he returns if Bulut can end his love in with Grant.
Like you said, Meite and Ugbo can go and I wouldn't be sorry to lose Robinson. I might be tempted to keep Etete for another season.
We also need some stiffening up in midfield anf full back cover.
-
Re: SOUTHAMPTON v CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
Yes, I love a 53rd minute Colwill sub. Gives him some time to try stuff. Otherwise it's the same blunt "attack" after blunt "attack".
-
Re: SOUTHAMPTON v CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
Do not understand why Meite is first choice. He offers nothing.
-
Re: SOUTHAMPTON v CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
Bowler flatters to deceive.
He and Robbo off it today.

He’s great when he’s on it but it’s not often enough.
Without Ramsey we lack a quality 10 and I think that’s a position they will look at in January.

There was one game (can't remember which) where I thought he played really well and then Bulut took him off instead of an underperforming Grant. Ever since then I think Bowler's been poor.
-
Re: SOUTHAMPTON v CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
No one helping Colwill there.

Preston? Although Grant did end up scoring.

Re: SOUTHAMPTON v CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
Commentators say the fog is worse live than it show son video....
-
Re: SOUTHAMPTON v CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
Well I just went up the shops and got some provisions and come back and it seems feck all positive has happened which I can't say is surprising. The most exciting thing is the fog!

Was horrified when some suggested we missed Grant on Tuesday. That said everything.

Re: SOUTHAMPTON v CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
Time to throw caution to the wind now.
-
Re: SOUTHAMPTON v CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
I knwo they are at home but have to say they seem one of the best teams we have played...way better than WBA....maybe Leeds/Leicester better.
-
Re: SOUTHAMPTON v CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
Bit late to bring on Ralls.....for Siopis(?)...know he hasn't been outstanding...but should be for Wintle....Etete should be on sooner......
-
Re: SOUTHAMPTON v CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
Collins not be great today...from memory maybe should have got closer to his man for both goals...instead of standing off?

Yep! Does my head in when we stand off from them inside our own box. Literally rolling out the red carpet for them.
