To me Rise has been great for the players and has encouraged them to play more naturally. However after a run of good results other sides have got us sussed. Whereas Luton were on times brutal by comparison assisted by a shit referee Blackburn kept our two more clever ball players out of the game. In doing so we looked clueless.
To some extent our shortcomings at forward have been masked by the results but I believe it is now clear that we have to take a different approach. The main problem is that without a centre forward we have no outlet in the final third.
I don’t see Rise being able to get the team into the way of playing that if things look like they’re going tits up they can change the approach.
We need a more experienced manager. Someone who can get a new tune out of our indifferent fiddle. My preference is Tony Mowbray but keep Rise as a coach because he seems to be able to communicate well with the players and they respond to him. But we also need to sort out our defence. On times it’s extremely poor, giving the ball away, not winning second balls. Even ball watching a la Luton.
Tbf Luton are a shit side as Middlesbrough clearly showed. How we lost to them god knows.
Rise isn’t the answer.
I say he should be given until Christmas.
What Light up the Darkness said is spot-on. I wonder how Etete will perform, presuming we'll see him on the bench after the International break.
I do have a feeling that the real ITK people know that Riza hasn't got the job, though based on what Rob Phillips was saying and how he structured his conversation on 'Call Rob.'
Give him the job till Xmas, then it's a yes or no
By then he will have been through a few ups and downs and that will be a test of how he might be ax a long term manager
It's utterly stupid hearing our fans jump from he's crap to he's great to we must have a full time appointment ...in just a few weeks
Within the next 2 weeks we should be near enough to a full compliment of players....and the squad like him ....then given we are clearly not in a position to go out and spend money to get 11 new faces ....it makes perfect sense to give him a fair crack of the whip until the Coventry game is out of the way
We really are not an attractive club to manage at present and the idea that people would walk over hot coal to come and sort out the mess here is ridiculous
He's not the messiah but he's done OK.....get this next block of games done and if we are moving away from the death zone give him the gig v
Etete could easily be a L1 striker. That makes him at the moment a far better option than Kanga.
I don't know if he will succeed in the Championship but until January or until Davies is fit he's a better option than Meite and the continuing to waste a bench position on Kanga is baffling.
I agree Reindorf should also be on the bench.
We were abysmal under Bulut, the football and results have been a lot better under Riza and Im actually enjoying going again, for the first time in years really.
There's been some poor tactical decisions from him; the subs at Bristol, playing with no striker even when it clearly didnt work the week before and dropping Chambers but on balance Id give him the job until the end of the season. We shouldnt let recency bias cloud our thinking.
I'd take Riza, Robins or Mowbray. I don't fancy Bilic.
It was a good game. We played well at times, and they punished us a bit with good passing through us. However, we agreed that at least we gave it a go and played some nice football. It's a difficult job without a Striker. Let's hope Davies and Robinson aren't out for too long.
He has improved us and should be given more time but the fact that there’s not been one bit of communication from anyone on the board about his position suggests they are not convinced
I threw Etete's name in the mix because it was mentioned earlier that Colwill and Tanner had no outlet.
If Robins fancies the job the club should be doing all they can to bring him in
Saw on Twitter earlier today marks 50 days without a permanent manager
That's the Etete I remember too, but he has got a bit of ability. I'd like to see him in the current team given the way they have been trying to play recently. I'm pretty sure he'd be a better option up front than Meite or Kanga. That may not be saying a lot, but if Robinson's going to be in and out of the side, then I reckon Etete's our next best choice, as frustrating as he is
