Felt sorry for Dennis, but I thought he could have just fallen on the ball and, if you were looking to apportion blame for the goal, he’d be most liable for it for me. I reckon you have to blame the keeper more for hitting one of the defenders, rather than the defenders for not getting out of the way in a fraction of.a second.

BBM would have learnt something from that match. The players that are buying into his style of play and the ones that aren’t, at the very least.

I have highlighted the most relevant part of your response.
Do supporters read too much into pre-season friendlies? Of course they do.
Are friendlies an important part of a new manager and coaching staff understanding their players? Of course they are.
Are friendlies an important way for players to understand what coaches want in a match situation? Of course they are.
Are friendlies better than training matches? Of course they are.
Are friendlies the the same as the real thing? No, of course they are not.
As BBM said
"We can have all the training games that we want, but it doesn’t quite have the same feel of playing an opponent that you don’t quite know. There was a lot of learning for us and insight into the players when they become under pressure, where they can improve, and a lot of good signs for us moving forward."
Trust me Pedro. And no offence like. I would rather take the views of a professional coach than you or ""Joke game" Tuerto.

If friendlies were pointless then clubs would stop doing them.
every single club in the league has pre season friendlies, and 90% of those aren't to make any money - ours this season certainly aren't

I paid £5 to watch this on CCTV, but if I'm honest, it should have been free.
Not a particularly watchable game, though to be fair, the opposition took it quite seriously. They (Johor) could have been two up in the first half, due to a napping defence, but 0-0 at half-time was about right. Second half was a bit livelier, though I couldn't understand how Johor were allowed to replace a red-carded player, yet we weren't - was this a concious decision? As the game wore on, the niggles and sly kicks had got worse from both sides, and it wasn't any real surprise to see Salech go. Colwill's goal was neat, their equaliser was a farce, and that was about it.
I'm sure Murphy has learned a lot about his players ( I saw a few that didn't look quite up to it), and I also hope they get a second camera angle set up before Saturday.

I think the attitude to the red cards says it all really - we wanted a proper test to help us get ready for the new season - so playing against ten men would have been a waste of time for us, hence we let them bring on another player.
they just wanted to win the game to prove themselves against a team from a bigger league, so didn't let us replace Salech.

I think you've made a fair assumption.

It’s obvious friendlies have merit for fitness, formations and building relationships between players and positions but results wise, zero, it’s great for a striker to get a few goals to build confidence but it’s all about getting everyone ready to hit the ground running in that first fixture against Peterborough.
Re: FT: CARDIFF CITY 2 - 2 JOHOR DARUL TA'ZIM. Match Thread
lets not read anything into our first game with a new system, manager, and pretty much new line up
