Re: The Transfer Rumour Thread
So, the Welshlad seal of approval makes this Kellyman story look more authentic and with rumours of a midfielder coming in, it’s beginning to look we won’t be bringing in a left back - is Kpakio being considered as an option in that position?

More likely Ng although I think I read Osho can play full back
Re: The Transfer Rumour Thread
I've always been impressed by Giles when I've seen him play for the U21s. I was hoping he might step up this season.

I was thinking of Ng right back and Kpakio on the left whenever Bagan needs a rest or is unavailable. Never been fully convinced by Ng at left back.

Think LB is still in the works, Bob.

Kellyman official! Who’s next??
Re: The Transfer Rumour Thread
Left back and midfielder left? Talk of loans for academy players
Re: The Transfer Rumour Thread
Will Alves loaned to Huddersfield.

Wonder how he’ll do in this league. I don’t think he made a single positive contribution for us. A lot of running in circles for nothing.

1 goal and 3 assists
I thought he was overhyped but he did contribute

Yes apart from that. We would have been screwed without that goal and 3 assists.
A noteworthy contribution that helped him go from Championship to League One.

It's all good stuff. When he signed for us the move was seen by some as a real coup. We had people on here reporting that Leicester fans were saying Alves was too good for the Championship and should have been in their Premier League squad. Now Leicester are back in the Championship, he can't get anywhere near their first team and they're loaning him out to a League One club.
The lad looks like he has ability, no doubt about that. He should do well enough at this level, but he's a bit of a show pony who clearly has a lot to learn about the game and his contribution to our Championship survival battle (if it can be described as such) was minimal.
Re: The Transfer Rumour Thread
Alves is the definition of that player who gets you excited initially as he's quick and direct, then you watch him play a few times and he's got zero end product. Glad we've not signed him.

Think this is the right decision and review in January if not getting enough game time.
EDIT: just seen they said he played CM against Cheltenham...?! So maybe not the most reliable of reports.
Giles should still go out.
Re: The Transfer Rumour Thread
Can we judge any player based on last season's setup?

Are you expecting a LB to come in?

Your last paragraph sums Alves up well.

Getting their Nyakuhwa’s mixed up with their Mafico’s.

I'm going to take issue with you about him being "direct". I wish he had been more direct; he might have made more impact. Instead, he tended to pirouette and go around in small circles... basically going nowhere fast.

You got me thinking we were signing him for all of a second :hehe:

BBC now reporting he's not going out on loan.
