Re: The Donald Trump thread
To return to the main event, I'm sure this will guarantee Trump the presidency later this year.
It will pump up his base. It will feed all his deranged conspiracy theories. It will ensure Biden isn't deposed by the Democrats and will go on to an epic fail in the final debates and vote. It will ensure the Democrats are divided and demotivated.
It will also ensure more $$$ flows into the Trump campaign - not only through the sale of mugs and tee shirts (maybe sales to mugs!)
I'm sure this was just about a lone wolf and a massive security failure - not a Democrat conspiracy, and not a Republican conspiracy - even though Trump will gain.
The end result will be much more dangerous and damaging than a supporter killed, two more injured and a pierced ear under the wig!

I'm sure it couldn't possibly be the case but one could imagine what a political masterstroke this would be had it been planned by certain people close to the Republican party.
Yes this now guarantees Trump the presidency though one would have thought it had been handed to him on a plate by Biden himself.
I see over 2000 t-shirts of the fist pumping Trump after the incident have already been sold and more are in urgent demand. Expect to see many of these being worn in the coming months.

Was it that he knew what was coming and (like escaping an aircraft) he wanted to hit the deck as easily as possible?
Or was it that he had converted to Islam and planned to throw his shoes at a big photo of Joe Biden?
The world needs to know!

I've no idea, it just seemed a bit random given the sequence of events.

Bone spurs apparently, they also helped Trump dodge bullets in Vietnam.

Melania speaking sense, puts some politicians to shame.

I agree entirely with Keir Starmer:
“I am appalled by the shocking scenes at President Trump’s rally and we send him and his family our best wishes.
“Political violence in any form has no place in our societies and my thoughts are with all the victims of this attack.”

My moral code doesn't take into account whether someone has my political views or not. Trying to murder someone (and killing someone else in the process) is wrong every single time

Most sane people agree with Starmer. It will be interesting to follow your moral code, particularly when it comes to people with a different political persuasion though!

Please do hold me to account on that Cyril. I look forward to it.
If someone tries to shoot a politician and kills a member of the public again you will see me condemn it entirely.

Oh, I missed the shooting a politician and a member of the public caveat, I thought it was a statement for life!

Re: The Donald Trump thread
You should read what Starmer really thinks on the Arsenal message board. Forget the sterile press releases. We all know it's places like this that are the cutting edge of political discourse.

I guess it's easier when you can spout off about theoretical things but maybe you missed the point that that is what has as actually happened and that's what we are talking about?

My moral code doesn't take into account whether someone has my political views or not.
Sorry missed the nuances in this.

There is no nuance on that, that's why.
Some things are black and white. Like trying to kill someone and actually killing someone else. That's bad.

The strange thing is in the set of circumstances you seem to want to make a stand on I don't think many, if any, disagree with you.
The nuance bit was that you bring that stark stated train of thought about your moral code to every exchange on here. We all know that's pants, but if you want to believe it then I guess what's the harm until your self delusion gets exposed the next time you go off on one!

You should have stopped after the first sentence. The rest you have just made up.
Touch of the "I'm not racist, but..." about several of you tonight. "I don't believe in settling political disputes with bullets, but..."
I suspect when the dust settles you will view it entirely as I do, which is that it is entirely wrong.
Why don't you tell me when I have ever been inconsistent on matters like this. I am frequently calling out people on here for political hatred. I am very consistent in making that argument.

James,
I know it's been a long day for you but the 2nd para is gibberish.
Regardless of the Trump stuff you stated "My moral code doesn't take into account whether someone has my political views or not." We all know that's bullshit but if you want to go to bed and have a good night's sleep believing it then I don't think anyone will get in your way!

Cyril,
It's not bullshit. Prove it. I'm saying many of you have a different opinion on political violence depending on who is involved. The evidence for that is in the thread above.
I have never ever expressed violent language towards anyone based on their political belief here, or in real life. Ever. So, no. It's not bullshit. I think the views expressed by some on here in the light of an attempted assassination are shameful tbh.

It's like you are anchored to a rock.
You made a simple stark statement.
"My moral code doesn't take into account whether someone has my political views or not."
Any rational person who has seen your posts would consider that a risible statement. You project morality from a corner not balanced on a see-saw.
You seem to think that your responses to the Trump assassination attempt validate that statement. It may do, it's just the hundreds of other posts on a multitude of subjects that don't!

So point them out. Because I think the people on here who accuse me of a lack of balance are the exact people incapable of it themselves - yourself perhaps included? If you had any objectivity on it you wouldn't be calling me out on this, you would be doing so to others.
And yes, I am anchored to a rock that political violence and violent language is wrong. Your best observation yet!
