Birmingham? This is his first offer, and he probably deserves better. It's a stepping stone back into club management.
Do you have any info regarding any of those jobs? Do you know if he was interested at the time they were vacant?

Osian Roberts , continuity
He's behind much of the success anyway

Why do you think he'd be interested in Sunderland, but not West Ham or Everton or his former club, Crystal Palace?

Why would you move him away from what he's great at?
Different roles, different skills. You'd need a replacement as good as he is or better for his current role and hope he can cut it as a manager.

No - coaches rarely do well when they step up to become the manager.
Here's a name, though - Mark Bowen.

I think he’s just taken the first chance that’s been presented to him. Would one of those clubs have approached him? Possibly but then again they may well have overlooked him. I’m guessing that he wasn’t too confident of job offers from better clubs than Sunderland or else he would probably have bided his time.
The other side is that if he does manage to turn Sunderland’s fortunes around, his reputation will be greatly improved and there’s a good chance that a bigger club will come in for him once he’s proved he can do a job at club level.

I would imagine Osian will be on his way to Sunderland too. No?

Not Giggsy. If we going non welsh then who has been through the Newport badge scheme. I would like Karl Robinson. Proven record with young players.

Bowen's never managed*, been nothing but a foil to Hughes.
* Ok, 1 game caretaker manager for QPR. Which they lost.

Carl Robinson for me, but I don't think he will get it

Re: Chris Coleman resigns as Wales manager to take over Sunderland
I have the answer.
Danny Gabbidon and Scott Young. Welsh. Young. Experience of managing at club level.
The dream ticket. Qatar, here we come.

You have you’re opinion and appear to be in the know on managerial appointments, I’ll bow to your superior knowledge.

I'd imagine it'll be a case of the FAW looking at former players, following on from the success of Speed and Coleman.
Don't see it being Giggs - would want too much money.
Carl Robinson is a good shout, only knock would be his managerial experience has been MLS not Britain. Bit jump from Vancouver to managing Wales.

I'd argue that attendances are the ONLY thing that make a big club, you can be a big club without being successful, you can be successful without bing a big club. Leicester won the league and played in the Champions League. It may have made them famous briefly, but it hasn't made them a bigger club.
Who's the bigger club? Last place in the Championship Sunderland? Or 7th in the Premier League Burnley? Sunderland are a bigger club than half of the Premier League IMO.
