We're playing NG at centre-back, I'm guessing because Simpson isn't considered good enough (Morison signing), Nkounkou at left-back (Morison signing), Ojo wide right (Morison signing), and of course, we're left short up front.
Hudson will have his work cut out.
Morrison signed 17 players, a bunch of them clearly aren't going to be good enough.
We didn't need so many. We needed more quality, not a ton of quantity.
We have a huge squad, only half of which are probably good enough at this level and a few of those are injured.
People have defended Morison but his short-comings in that respect are quickly becoming exposed.
It will take more investment to put this right and that might not come.
I like NG at centre back personally.

Some of the Burnley squad this week talked about the way Bellamy has improved their final third play and decision making.
I don't know whether our coaching team are capable of doing the same? Or how much improvement is possible? Is it mainly skills, or set up, or attitude (the risk taking)?
In my opinion it's down to small risks, like overloading the penalty box when we are in a good position to capitalise. Let wintle make a late run into the box, get their defenders thinking as opposed to marking a couple of flat line attackers, and do it quickly. I'm sure that coaching can be a thing, but i've always believed that decisive play in the box is almost instinctive, and that's why there aren't that many players out there that are good at it. Defending can be coached, lets face it, it's about stopping good players and giving the ball to more creative players, positioning also in my opinion. Intelligence and the ability to know in a split second what is around you, i don't think so. That's my biggest concern with this team, there's zero spark in the right area. Some of the crosses are poor, but i can't see many options for the player crossing the ball, nobody is making late runs or pulling defenders out. Good goal today, although it was a gift from Burnley.

I do too but I liked him more at right back.
Don't get me wrong, Romeo's done alright there so we can afford to play Ng wherever. At the moment I'd be tempted to play him at left back though given Nkounkou's weaknesses defensively...
But we can't do that because we don't have better centre back options.

Its a poorly balanced squad. Thats being nice. We may just be poor.
Looked all over a relegation outfit a
today

I couldn't get there today and have only seen the highlights (listened to Cardiff audio and read the local Burnley match reports), and that seems to be a fair assessment.
However, despite that Burnley are still 4th.
I thought the comments from Jay Rodrigues and another Burnley player about the impact Bellers has had on them on the training ground was relevant to a discussion on what improvements are possible with our squad.

Re: T: CARDIFF CITY 1 - 1 BURNLEY. Match thread
Ojo is our only real threat, yes he’s got a lazy style but people saying he’s useless are way off.
Still very worried about our lack of creativity, great for Robinson to get a goal.

Completely disagree with that....Burnley did not look that much better and they are challenging at the top end of the table.
We'll be ok.

Re: T: CARDIFF CITY 1 - 1 BURNLEY. Match thread
Started really well before Burnley got into the game and dominated it for the rest of the half. Not sure what the triple substitution was about but it let us back into it and we deserved the draw in the end.

I just hope people don't start jumping on Hudson's back for that.
I'm not suggesting that Hudson is the answer by the way, just that people need to understand the damage Morison has left.
His preferred formation was clearly a 4-3-3.
If Bagan isn't considered good enough as backup for Collins, then he's messed up bringing in Nkounkou as he looks more a wide left player.
If you consider Romeo and Ng as right backs, then he's left us massively short in central defence as he clearly didn't like McGuiness or Denham.
I think central midfield has improved but is still short for a central midfield 3.
Then you have wingers. He didn't rate Whyte but only brought in Ojo...
O'Dowda is good, but needs backup.
And then of course forwards. We needed two physical ones to play that system. Robinson is a good player but not that type of player. Etete clearly wasn't anywhere near ready.
I think Hudson did ok today with what he has. He's been smart enough to move away from the 4-3-3 and realise that his options are limited.
I think Hudson will do alright but we can't expect him to pull up any trees given what Morison has left him with.
Hopefully the likes of Colwill can add something, Adams when back, maybe even Sean Morrison if he can play for us again. Eventually Collins but not likely this season.

Re: T: CARDIFF CITY 1 - 1 BURNLEY. Match thread
Thought the final ball really let us down today, apart from Romeo’s cross for the goal. Burnley didn’t cause us many problems, thought it looked like a foul before the Burnley goal.
We seemed to miss a number 10, hopefully Ruben is back soon.

Re: T: CARDIFF CITY 1 - 1 BURNLEY. Match thread
I dont see much more Hudson could have done today with this squad.
Pep wouldn't get this squad much higher.
Are there 3 worse squads ?

We just drew with a top 4 side. I thought we played well. Deserved the point and it wouldn't have been a travesty if we had nicked all three. I didn't see anything like a relegation side today.

Agreed. Most of us concluded a long long time ago that Mark Harris is not good enough at this level.
I don't like saying it to be honest, I'm conscious of the fact that people read it, that it's seen as negativity etc, but the truth is just that. And there's no point beating around the bush.
He and Watters should have been released a long time ago but both are still here. Watters maybe understandably, but we knew Harris wasn't good enough YEARS ago.
I don't understand why we're hanging onto players if the general consensus at the club is that they're not good enough.
Get them off the wage bill, make space, and concentrate on quality, not quantity.

We are not a relagation side, probably just about halfway or slightly below - but we won't be relagated.

We still have scope for a loan or two in January I believe, so hopefully we'll release a few and strengthen a little bit at least.

Harris isnt the problem in my opinion.
In fact in what is going to be a scrap I think he will be one we can rely on.

I agree if it was Romeo bombing down the left wing - he was excellent, Wintle MoM though

Re: FT: CARDIFF CITY 1 - 1 BURNLEY. Match thread
Both teams created very little a draw was a fair result. We need a bigger presence up front, I like Harris but we are not going to win many games if he is our main striker.
