I think you'll find I started with a big IF. Some are suggesting we could be a top half side after one big win.

Certainly going in the right direction.
Give Riza a few more games , why not? No need to hand out a contract yet surely .
There are those that have said we need an experienced manager , I am going to disagree to an extent , we need a winning manager .
Mick McCarthy was experienced
I don't think I have enjoyed a performance like that since Dave Jones days . That doesnt mean all is well yet , but so much better than its been .

The transformation City has had on the pitch is fantastic, but Omer Riza's pleading tone is a bit embarrassing.
Again, I love the change he's brought about, but he should have a little more self-respect.
It wouldn't harm him to smarten up his appearance, either!

Bugger his appearance if he produces the result he can look like he wants.

You’re only as good as your last performance, what more can Riza do?…….ok, a shave, shower and a stop looking like an unmade bed, but apart from that!!

Re: Riza's Cardiff reign looks likely to continue
I'd give Riza until Christmas, we've improved in each game since he's taken over, let's see if he can continue.

If we are to finish 10th this season, we'd need roughly the same amount of points per game average as a team finishing in 6th would need over a whole season. A top 6 finish would need an average of around 1.8 points a game, which would win automatic promotion more often than not.
I'd also suggest finishing anywhere between 9th and 16th as being mid-table, but there's quite a difference between them. If we finished 16th this season but look like we're improving and have things to build on, I'll be happy. I'd see that as a better season than last season - even though we finished 12th, in most aspects of our game we were generally dreadful and weren't building anything.
Last season 10th was 63 points. Wed need 1.5 points a game to get to that.
And yes top 6 was 73 points and would need 1.8 points to get to that.
We can discount the first 6 games as we know how bad bulut was and it wasnt due to a lack of quality in the squad. Those saying that have been proven wrong.
But i genuinely cannot believe how you could think this squad could still not be around 10th place if we had about 3 new quality players such as a couple of strikers.
We actually came one point from 10th last season. Do you think last years squad was that much better than this then?

Re: Riza's Cardiff reign looks likely to continue
Has to back today up on Tuesday. If we lose on Tuesday the whole feel good factor from today will be gone. Even a draw would be disappointing. Huge game and if we have another comfortable win I’d imagine he will be sitting well for the job until the end of the season

No, I think we were exceptionally fortunate to finish 12th last season. We did so after a very good start, but we both know that our last two thirds of the season were mostly crap.
During pre-season I suggested that we weren't building on a 12th place finish. We were, in reality, needing to build from the last 6 months of the season, which were mostly dreadful. In virtually every statistic we were one of the worst teams in the division. If we were to finish 12th again, we'd need a big improvement on our form from mid October onwards. That's the point from which we were needing to build. To some last season, finishing 12th was great. I, along with lots of others, didn't share that enthusiasm.
So, to answer your point, I really couldn't care less that we finished 12th last season when I came to looking at our chances this season. I think I predicted we'd finish 18th, which I'd still take now, which I based on the last 6 months of the season. Anyone thinking the playoffs were within reach based on those 6 months needs urgent help.
I hope that whoever becomes our permanent manager persists with the team as it is. There's some youth there and, with youth comes inexperience, so there'll be some rocky times ahead this season. I would much rather give the youngsters game time and a chance to build together and finish 21st, than play the old timers and finish 12th again. We'd be better off for it the season afterwards as a result. Now, if we can keep some form and build this season, I reckon we could have a go at the playoffs next season.

He has done very well.
I'm not sure we should be giving someone the job off the back of a few matches though, just as if we had lost those matches someone shouldn't necessarily be ruled out.
Ultimately it should be a proper process where we identify and get the best manager in we can. I think they have just effectively given him a few matches to see how he gets on, he couldn't do much more but I don't think it's how we should be operating.
Whatever happens though he should be kept on the coaching staff at least, it's quite clear if nothing else that the players enjoy working with him, either that or they absolutely hated working with Bulut.

I agree with what you say Jimmy, but to be fair from where we were there was only 1 direction we could go in. :hehe:
