Ashursts promotion season onwards.
Doubt it if I’ll do another one now, but, if I do, it would be 82/83.

I now on here we are not allowed to say anything negative about players but Ng has been a shadow of his former self for over 12 months.
Really, since when?

Slightly tongue in cheek but you know how it is frowned upon to criticise players, especially legends! I have been on this board like yourself for many years, and negativity is frowned upon. (In my opinion)

‘Legends’ are quite thin on the ground re. The City.
Re: Retained list announced
So who are the City Legends? I'll start with Phil Dwyer.

Dwyer, Brian Clarke, John Toshack, Peter Whittingham would be 4. In my opinion.
Re: Retained list announced
Fred Keenor and Alf Sherwood from a much earlier age.
Re: Retained list announced
Peter Whittingham and surely Joe Ralls for his service in modern times.

Re: Retained list announced
A team of Cardiff City “legends”.
Tom Faquharson (sure I spelt that wrong)
Phil Dwyer, Don Murray, Sol Bamba, Alf Sherwood
Peter King, Fred Keenor, Peter Whittingham, Craig Bellamy,
Earnie, Hughie Ferguson

Fred Stansfield instead of Bamba
Stan Richards instead of Bellamy

No way Stansfield over Bamba, but Richards is definitely a contender although it'd probably be for Earnie if it was my choice - when you consider the player Bellamy was when he came here the first time, it was pretty amazing we got him and it was a fantastic gesture for a player so good to come back to his home town club - I don't think too many players would have done the same a shim.
The one I thought most about including was Peter King - I picked him because for the first ten years I watched City, he was there week in, week out giving 7 out of 10 performances, but is that enough to merit inclusion? On the other hand, he did score the best City goal I've ever seen and he was still running marathons in his sixties, and possibly seventies, so he isn't a terrible choice.
If not King, I'd probably make a sentimental choice and say Ian Gibson.

Ralls over Bellamy.
Obviously Bellamy is the better player by a mile. But Ralls has played his entire career with us and was a key player for many years.
I cant have Bellamy as a legend.

Scott young instead of Bamba?

Replying to myself:-) Perhaps Billy Hardy instead of Bellamy, 590 appearances over 21 years, a definite legend.

Yes, I should have considered Hardy.

Go on, do it. It was a great season. 92-93 and 00-01 would be challengers.
I've tried to submit an amazon review. It hasn't appeared yet, though.
