As has been said, we know nothing about who is in this consortium or their plans and commitment to the club. What will you say if they want to rebrand?
Clearly Tan has made mistakes but CCFC has cost him in the region of £250m and you and others expect him to take the first offer and walk away.
Let’s hope that the consortium offers an acceptable price, has the wherewithal to continue to fund the losses and an ambitious plan that they can deliver and fans buy into.

For the first time in years it looks as if Tan may have an offer that he may have to consider seriously.
Apparently there other groups sniffing around. Nathan Blake is involved with one of them and Dalman might be as well.

Who's behind the bid? Do they know anything about running a football club?
While a new owner might be good it could also be bad. Until we know more about the people behind this I don't think we should be getting excited.
Have they actually got a decent budget, or do they just see a great opportunity while a club is relegated and the owner in a difficult spot, which is fine. Except that he's a stuborn old bugger and won't sell for a penny less than he feels it's worth.
I could go to the papers tomorrow, saying I made a superb offer (£20, but no one else would know that) and say it was rejected.
Time will tell, timing could be good, I'm sure Tans fed up with the whole thing, but it will have to be a realistic offer.

How much did the Glazrs put it, and how much of it was borrowed?
Thats the format a lot of US club investors use, so probably a bit more than my £20, but maybe not as much more as you would think.

Maybe Vinnie needs to name a realistic price, whether he gets all his money back or not. Think of us poor long suffering fans Vinnie my boy!

Maybe they'l have the business acumen to not make losses. Imagine that.

If that was the case they wouldn't be contemplating buying a football club.

This is different from nearly every, if not every, statement of intent re. a UK football club, in that the person making the statement is a football person and a football person actually from the place where the club is located. It’s not some faceless chancer who’s not been heard of that’s making us fans frantically Googling his name, then getting excited by the fact he’s got a few bob or deflated by the fact that he seems a phoney.
Of course there’s many Ts to be crossed and Is to be dotted but in these gloomy times for us it’s a bit of light at the end of the tunnel, light’s that being shone by one of the UK’s or world’s best ever players who has always, in my opinion, acted throughout his career with dignity.
What’s not to get excited about?

Google Vincent Tan he he appears as the owner of Cardiff City above all his other interest. Google images and it's 90% Tan in a City shirt. 7000 miles away the fortunes of Cardiff City have little impact on Malaysian media, but his involvement does. I dread writing this, but I don't think Tan has any interest in ever selling - it's doing his ego no end of good. I really hope I'm wrong on this one..

Due to commercial confidentiality, the fact that Gareth Bale has publicly announced his intention to purchase, suggests to me that the process is quite far down the line.
The club have has had significant interest from other investors in the past and none have reached this level of media exposure.

Oh, the thought of a takeover is exciting indeed... IF it falls into the right hands.
We can all accept that Gareth Bale is just the 'face' of the proposed takeover consortium.
However, it's important that we don't get too carried away at this early stage. Neither you, nor I, know anything about the integrity of this consortium, and neither I suspect does Gareth Bale.
At least under Vincent Tan we could never be labelled a 'selling club'.
We got ridiculous money for both Zahore and McGuiness, both great deals at the time. Kieffer Moore had his heart set on a move, it was prudent not to try and stand in his way.
Already the club has announced we don't need to sell any players, unless it's on our terms.
Being a former football great is one thing, being an astute businessman is another.

That’s what I implied, lots of Ts to crossed and Is to be dotted. Yes, Bale is the mouthpiece at the moment but, crucially, not some faceless, unknown mouthpiece. A loyal man to his country whereas other ‘superstars’ picked and chose, a trait which you’d like to think wouldn’t see him involved with a bunch of shady shysters. He’s surely taken advice on when to drop this news and I’d imagine he and his advisors are astute enough to have done his homework on the integrity of proposed investors. He wouldn’t let his mouth go wild like this without research, can’t see any way he’d risk it all collapsing in farce with him looking an absolute dick.

Not everyone will get the same search results, yours will be heavily influenced by browsing history, location, etc.

I don’t think he will ever get any of the mythical 100 million he’s blown on bad mgt back unless he lets the club go and retains a small stake, then if the new owners manage to get us up and keep us up, his stake will be worth far more…..I’d have to assume if he he doesn’t let the club go after allegedly losing so much, that he’s full of it and things ain’t so bad after all…..

This got me thinking about the outcome of the Sala case. What if a deal was struck that any financial compensation, repayments, costs etc would go to Tan and he'd get his costs back? Is that legally possible if it's CCFC's name on the court documents?
A lot of people on here have said Tan won't sell until the Sala case is settled, and let's be honest even if the case (to be heard in September?) finds in our favour there's potential further cases to be filed against UEFA and possibly Nantes, both of which could drag on for years. Give the whole shebang to Tan, he sells and allows CCFC to draw a line under the whole sorry mess (Sorry, I don't want that to come across as heartless for Sala's family). I guess the money spent on the Sala transfer and subsequent court cases has come directly out of Tan's pocket and not necessarily from the club itself?

I can't see how Bale's intervention yesterday has done anything but move the likelihood of a takeover forward by several notches - I also feel it will accelerate any buy out, assuming there is one. It seems that there are other interested parties about and what Bale had to say will have concentrated minds and got them asking what do we do know?
You're right to focus on how having someone like Gareth Bale involved makes this takeover bid different from the norm. Everyone else involved, be they the club's current ownership or other potential buyers, are going to know that, despite him turning us down three years ago, most supporters are going to want the Bale consortium to emerge victorious. Our current unpopular owner could do himself a favour in the PR stakes by opting for the Bale led bid, especially, if he can claim that he could have got a higher price from one of the other bidders.
I don't know about the plans of any one looking to buy out Vicent Tan, but I'm almost at the stage where I don't much care any more. I'm done with being careful with what I wish for.
With a lot of luck and a strong following wind, we might just get back to the Championship under Vincent Tan's ownership, but the last five years (not to mention Kortrijk's relegation) have shown that we've no chance of reaching the Premier League again with Tan, Dalman and Choo in charge.
Who knows, supporting Cardiff City might become fun again.
