Does anyone else think it's beginning to sound as if Gareth Bale might be more than just a figurehead for the consortium if they did buy out Vincent Tan?

Of course.

I think there will be a whole bunch of back and forth, a mediocre season, and then a takeover afterwards, followed by a new manager, and then some more commas, before a new era begins, and we can go back to being proud of our club.

'Colleague' is sometimes narrowly defined as 'someone you work with in a profession or business' - and often someone with a similar status (so not the boss) but many dictionaries also widen it to include anyone you work with in any context.
Keith is talking about people he worked with in (I assume) an accountancy firm. He could have used 'colleague' to mean people he works with on the Trust Board, an amateur sports club, a charity or a voluntary group.
It sounds a bit clunky - but in specifying the relationship I don't see it as tautological.
Meanwhile, back in the thread.....
Are you saying he's saying exactly the same thing over and over again? Maybe he is Self Taut!

I have a vague recollection that it was the nickname of a muscle-bound Irish philosopher!

Cardiff owner Tan expected to reject takeover bid from consortium led by Bale
Latest from Sky Sports News' Amar Mehta:
Cardiff City owner Vincent Tan is expected to reject a bid to buy the club from a consortium led by Gareth Bale.
It is understood that Bale submitted an offer that is lower than the current owners' valuation, and they are expected to turn it down.
One source has told Sky Sports News that the offer was £20m, less than a reported £40m.
And Sky Sports News also understands that there are other, higher offers on the table to buy Cardiff from Tan.
It remains to be seen whether Bale's consortium return with another offer, but one is likely to come given his open interest in buying his hometown club.
In June, Bale told Sky Sports News: "We are interested in getting Cardiff.
"It's my home club, it's where I grew up and my uncle used to play for them. To be involved with an ownership group would be a dream come true."
