That is a bit of fancy footwork, Elwood.
The International Court of Justice (founded under the UN Charter in 1945) will take a few more years to reach a judgement on the case of genocide brought by South Africa (and other countries who joined the case later).
Neither Israel nor the USA recognise its' jurisdiction.
The Commission of Inquiry established by the UN Human Rights Council in 2021 that has ruled on the question of Israeli genocide in Gaza has produced a comprehensive report that has been published by the UN. It has informed the latest session of the UN General Assembly. It has not informed any new resolution of the UN General Assembly - but all the previous ones that have demanded Israel comply with international law have been ignored - by Israel and the USA.
There is still a legal process to conclude, but (unless you want to dance on a legal pinhead) it is fair to say that the UN has determined that Israel is committing genocide!

I usually respect your contributions to debate but I think the word "semantics" was defined for this one. If he had asked if the UN Commission that had declared Israel's response to the Hamas massacre as just cause for peaceful protest would you have agreed with him?

I think there was a cause for peaceful protests before the Commission said a Dicky bird.
But the arguments that appear to be happening within the UN on the issue were not caused by me!!!
Before you accuse me of semantics take it up with them!

Sure, whatever stops the killing. I must say though that I think the most pressure should probably be aimed at the nation that's massacring kids with missiles and forced starvation

You’ve not answered my question yet? The “Genocide” could end tomorrow if Hamas agreed to the brokered peace deal.

Just saw your reply now. Seeing that Hamas started this latest round of violence, surely the pressure should be applied to them to stop this war. Do you think they want to? I don’t.
