I have been involved in the design and registration of logos and, in my opinion, the ragworm is far too detailed to be reproduced in small images.Quote:

Looks quite classy imho
Bluemoon's edit looks even better, very nice http://www.ccmb.co.uk/images/smiley_icons/thumbup.gif
To be honest, all of our badges apart from this one have been shite imho

Yeah but if they had unveiled that today TVB would have said it was a shite cut and paste, TLG would found it a "hilarious" attempt to appease the sheeple and TBG would have said the wings are too detailed for printing or something.Quote:

The new badge isn't "hilarious". Amusing, but not hilarious. And not as amusing as the reaction to it in this thread.Quote:

I don't want to play that game however as it's boring and I'll just agree with you that this particular dragon has not really been 'integral' (in its strict sense of the word) with Cardiff as they claim. However, it is not an unknown dragon in Cardiff as I believe you were trying to make out.Quote:

Three laughing smilies tend to suggest more than merely "amusing".Quote:

Yeah but if he can make the conversation all about the interpretation of the word "integral" rather than his original comments then he wins the internet.Quote:

Its better than I expected.
Certainly no worse than a Hamamm's effort.
Will do for now. http://www.ccmb.co.uk/images/smiley_icons/smiley.gif
Now lets win some.
I hope that you find my comments acceptable for thread discussing the design of a logo.Quote:

In the re-brand reversal meeting, Dalman was very clear in his suggestions that the new badge would include something that represented Vincent Tan. Now this little sqiggly dragon thing is apparently a symbol integral to the city of Cardiff. Righto.Quote:

Yeah well if you absolutely have to find a way to avoid saying anything positive then pointing out the level of detail is as good as any.Quote:

That makes absolutely no sense, in fact you've just devalued your the point you were making. You can't say the badge is badly designed when you have no idea about design, and you don't have to have managed at a professional level to know Russel Slade is doing a poor jobQuote:

Grow up, CC. I made a valid point that is well-known in the world of logo designing.Quote:

Personally, I've always liked that particular dragon on City Hall as it has real attitude. We could do with some of that at Cardiff City in the team at present.Quote:

Yeah but regardless of what the badge looked like, if I had to gamble my life savings on whether you'd come in to this thread and say something positive or negative, guess what I'd put my money on?Quote:

Yes, you made a valid point but it totally contradicted what you were saying. Our new badge is very simplistic and can be minimized and still maintain a good level of detail. I think you'll find any person with any grasp of vector designing - which our media department will - can adjust the image accordingly for print if there was a problem, however it's highly unlikely it will be. The only issue I can see is the dragon is a bit small, but when scaled down they can always reattach the vector into the badge so as to not lose pixel quality.Quote:

Completely agree. The only Cardiff City shirt I own has that badge on it - which is why I am happy to see this new badge as it is as close as we can reasonably hope to get to what I consider to be our true club badge.Quote:

Precisely the point. The dragon is too detailed at the size it is and it's not really a design that can easily be simplified whilst keeping the aesthetics when reduced in size. No contradiction whatsoever.Quote:

I wonder if Tan realises that the motto of the City of Cardiff, and the very first motto we had on our shirts is 'The Red Dragon leads the way'.
We should be grateful that the new dragon is as small as it is.
Think that's a good effort all things considered.
Do you think Matt Lucas would do it justice?Quote:

I totally disagree, I think the dragon is quite simplistic for what it could have been. I guarantee it wouldn't look any worse scaled down to a small size when it's a lossless format which it will be as it's a vector image. There's far more complicated badge designs out there. Far moreQuote:

I like it. Yes, it's fairly simplistic but it's much less of a mess than the last one. It's also a fair compromise.
Besides this, we changed our badge plenty of times pre-rebrand without masses of angst. None of those badges were masterpieces of branding either.
You are so right sad sad peopleQuote:

Not great, but if someone had said to me at the start of the season that we'd be back in blue with that badge, I'd have bitten their hands off. It's a vast improvement on that monstrosity beermat badge.
FFS. Really?
