I don't get the relevance of "what about the generation who gave their lives" when the body the vote was about in 2016 was less than sixty years old at that time (the "common market" was founded in 1957).
I'd be fascinated to know from you what precisely it is that ensures the EU have us in a "stranglehold" it will take us half a century to escape from.
I have heard a lot of equally angry remainers as well Bob!

If it’s gonna take 50 yrs to balance out, then that’s proof in itself what strangle hold the EU has on us.
Perceptive remarks there re our Bobsy Wilson. He's getting progressively worse, too.
It's down to him relocating from Cardiff to the arse end of beyond in Rhondda where his peer group consist of people such as Dilys Willis, Huw Pugh and Mavis Davis. It's remarkable that the more they read newspapers at the library the more uninformed they become. Subconsciously, through a desire to be accepted, instead of questioning their madcap views he increasingly nods in agreement.

That is a pretty broad statement there.
Course it is, but the truth remains that talk to a lot of Brexiteers for long enough and they'll bring WW2 into it

I voted to leave. And as for the Second World War, as far as the UK was concerned it was a complete and utter disaster, and fkuc all to do with us....

Well, I'm not a WW2 historian, but I do know that 85% of German casualties died at the Eastern Front, fighting the Soviets. The British involvement made barely any difference, except bankrupt the Country until the late 1980's..

That’s because his hand was forced and he made a mistake attacking Russia when he did, if the allies hadn’t come together there was a likely chance the Germans would’ve won the war and if they had a bit more time due to their superior technological capabilities the man in the high castle would be reality

From the Queen's Christmas message to Brexit to whether the Germans were forced into attacking Russia. Political discussion on the internet in a nutshell :xmashehe:

That sentence in itself shows what the EU has become. It’s gone from a common market designed for a you scratch my back I’ll scratch yours on trade deals, to an all consuming monster that some people are too afraid to leave, and that’s just in 50 yrs!!
I reckon I've asked those questions to around 50-60 leave voters. Not one single one of them has yet come back with a decent answer.

Depends if your looking for an answer to fit in with your remain agenda?
If the people had got a vote whether to join the common market all those yrs ago, we might never have been involved. Especially if people knew in a short space of time, it would become power mad, and almost impossible to leave on decent terms.
At the end of the day Eric, I wanted to leave, so did the majority of people who bothered to vote.
Imo, the UK will do ok for itself without being tied to the Euro megalomaniacs with their snouts in the money and big pension troughs.
