Ah that would have settled my nerves, he was so close in too
-
Re: CARDIFF CITY v DERBY COUNTY. Match thread
It was Ralls and I agree he should have scored.

Brilliant win. Derby were supposed to be our closest rivals for a playoff place a week or so ago. Now their season is over. Bloody marvellous!

Yes, but we have some crosses put in the right area. Not many, but a few.

Re: FT: CARDIFF CITY 2 - 1 DERBY COUNTY. Match thread
Fair play to Harris. He changed things up at half time and it worked really well. We should have scored 3 or 4 tonight.
-
Re: FT: CARDIFF CITY 2 - 1 DERBY COUNTY. Match thread
Had enough chances to win that 4 or 5, accept that Derby were chasing & leaving gaps. I'll take the 3 points & thank Rooney for the gift.

Re: CARDIFF CITY v DERBY COUNTY. Match thread
Enjoyed that, The City actually doing it when it mattered. Marlon Pack unsung hero anyone? Did the dirty work, head didn’t drop when Derby had that spell of playing around us, kept his head, played a few telling balls, all round tidy performance. Never be man of the match material but certainly warranted Harris’s faith in him tonight.

He was fine on the ball but as soon as he had to move limitations are clear as day
Bailed out by the legs around him for me but can’t really criticise anyone at all
Would like to See him moved on in the summer if possible

I wouldn't argue with Pack as man of the match.

Great win.
Nailbiting stuff though with NML going close then Ralls hitting the bar.
Either side of HT until we scored we made them look like Barcelona but NH made some decent changes flooding the midfield and a gift from Rooney helped the cause.
Well done Neil Harris and the whole team, gutsy performance and an important win

Earlier in the season you were lucky to see us string 2 or 3 passes together sometimes. Well done Neil Harris, and a particular mention for Marlon Pack. I actually thought he looked half decent tonight !

How was Hoilett - apart from the goal?
He has been shot by the hour mark in the past few matches, but stayed on to the end today. From the few bits I saw (SSN) he has maybe refilled his tank?

Re: FT: CARDIFF CITY 2 - 1 DERBY COUNTY. Match thread
Great result and a good performance to go with. Pack, for once, stood out for myself, really strong performance in the middle. Onto the Neil derby, win saturday and you've got to fancy playoffs to be in the bag. No doubt we'll do a cardiff and lose now.

Harris deserves a pat on the back for ringing the changes, changed tactics in second half, great use of substitutes .

Well done Neil Harris for going all Sheff Utd on the snowflakes rses

Re: FT: CARDIFF CITY 2 - 1 DERBY COUNTY. Match thread
Massive 3 points.
So many good performances but my man of the match was Pack. His passing was excellent: NML, Hoillet, Tomlin and Bennet also great. Ward did a lot in his brief cameo. No bad performance out there really.
Onto Boro...

Re: FT: CARDIFF CITY 2 - 1 DERBY COUNTY. Match thread
Really impressed with that performance tonight, bouncing back from two straight defeats. A few defensive lapses and that 10 min spell of not seeing the ball after Derby scored was unnerving, albeit the ball never really threatened to end up in the back of the net. But other than that Harris has Cardiff playing some neat and composed football, if only they could manage better than only 1 out of every 10 crosses being decent, they would be onto something 😂
Bacuna looks far more assured at right back than Sanderson, so hoping for no change there come the weekend. Pack looked assured switching play when he got on the ball. Those two in particular had impressive games.
Also Tomlin offers so much for Cardiff, was happy to see him in the starting 11 to set the tone from the first whistle as opposed to injecting some creativity in the final 20.
As for the playoff picture Millwall on a charge, so if Swansea fail to get a result tomorrow they will be the nearest rivals and have QPR and Huddersfield to play next. Hopefully City do the business against Boro and distance themselves from the chasing pack.

Ward never disappoints. A neat, tidy player who's also v. good in the air. I can understand why Glatzel gets the nod to start because it's assumed he's the best at holding the ball up and winning it in the air, but Ward's actually as good at doing those things - probably better. I hope we don't lose him this summer whichever league we end up in.

Re: FT: CARDIFF CITY 2 - 1 DERBY COUNTY. Match thread
Glad Bacuna has proven me wrong as a right back, thought we'd need him in the middle but happy for him to remain there for the last two games.
-
Re: FT: CARDIFF CITY 2 - 1 DERBY COUNTY. Match thread
Great result. Really good performance, Harris made some really telling changes again. Hopefully Brentford will put Preston out of contention tomorrow

Agreed, the whole team played well tonight apart from individual error by Nelson for Derby goal, but MOM was the much maligned Pack! Also great tactics and substitutes by Harris after being out thought in Blackburn game!

Re: FT: CARDIFF CITY 2 - 1 DERBY COUNTY. Match thread
Decent performance. More composed on the ball and looked the bigger threat for most of the game.
How shit was Rooney.

Well if we don't secure the play offs with a win at Boro then it's a nap we will be on the wrong end of a Hull bounce when Grant McCann gets the chop after their 8 nil loss to Wigan tonight
