I think his name is Vlad and he's probably holed up on a troll farm somewhere near the Arctic circle but it's more likely to be much less glamorous. Nobody's got this amount of time and energy without the motivation of another log being allowed on the fire and a slice of baked onion.

Where the **** is less glamorous than being holed up near the Arctic circle in mid march? Come on...the race baiting is one thing but that's just OTT. We've all had a drink, but seriously..

I'm surprised how long you think it takes someone to count to 10 but it does explain a lot

I wasnt thinking about how long it takes someone to count to ten, I was considering how long it may take you to count to ten.

It's brilliant, isn't it? I love the spacing of the comma. It adds gravitas. Like a Liverpudlian poet. Sludge definitely nailed it.

You might want to spell out what you mean here. Intimating Nazanin Ratcliffe might not be the best look!
Re: Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe
Been awestruck by the interviews with anoosheh ashoori this week. His experiences of prison range from the downright worst you could imagine, torture and the rest. Through to really uplifting stories of the lectures everynight by the various experts detained, the way they looked out for and supported each other. To see how relieved yet broken him and his daughter were was extremely powerful.
I can't quite understand the vitriol or hero worship of Nazanin. She deserves respect and sympathy for what she went through. I do also think it's legitimate to have an issue with the way it sometimes appears that nazanin and Richard Ratcliffe blame the British govt more than the Iranians. Although I do think this is maybe more down to certain sectors of the press than themselves. They've both been extremely critical of the Iranian regime, and continue to be so in relation to the hostages still held. Yet the press would rather fixate on 1 comment made about a home Secretary, than 10 comments they make about the Iranians.

I think this is a really good and balanced post with empathy and understanding. I too read about Anoosheh's lectures and the horrific prison conditions. It was very moving, upsetting but also uplifting. I'm absolutely sure there will be even worse accounts of actions and activities during both of their detentions but this is being moderated at the moment.
I understand Nazanin's anger and sense of injustice completely. Both of them will take years to mentally recover if, in fact, that's even possible.
