Page is a very basic poor manager, we often seem to get a few against us. He got lucky with Giggs having his issues, otherwise I doubt he would have got a managers job again.

We should have been ahead at half time but we were well beaten 2nd by feckin Armenia.
Page may be a poor manager but there were some shocking individual performances and our better players did absolutely feck all..

.....word for Dan James....He bust a gut fair play, got a goal, put in some decent balls.

Turkey concede a last minute equaliser, then score a last minute winner

When you compare the fluidity of movement of Armenia with the slow predictable and inaccurate passing of the Welsh team you realise how far we've regressed in the last few years.
Being a small nation, we cannot expect to continually punch above our weight like we've been doing since we qualified for the 2016 Euros. Still hurts mind when you see players like Rodon, Ampadu and Morrell performing like parks players in a Welsh jersey.

Why can’t we expect to punch above our weight? Croatia have been a regular at tournaments since Yugoslavia broke up, and they have a population barely larger than our own.

Could / should have made it 2-0 then it’s a different game. Lots of effort no doubt but decision making, lack of self belief let’s him down.

Well beaten by a team from a country you would struggle to find on a map.

A small population compared to most nations maybe but to put it in perspective Wales has a population just shy of Croatia and they seem to be doing quite well.

East of Turkey, West of Azerbaijan, North of Iran and South of Georgia with a fascinating history, language and religious tradition.

It's bigger than Wales, considerably actually, with a very similar population size. They are hardly Andorra or Lichtenstein. That said, we were shocking tonight, and would possibly have struggled against those two as well.

It's impossible that all of the players could have been equally bad, something is not right in the camp.

Re: FT: WALES 2 - 4 ARMENIA. Match thread
They were very good going forward, but the keepers acting was something else.

Page should have gone after the world cup.
We were lucky against Latvia and our first goal was after a potential Armenia foul.
This looks like the end of the golden generation of Welsh football.
Also long throws FFS

Re: FT: WALES 2 - 4 ARMENIA. Match thread
Awful to the point of calamity.
Even before the sending off (which looked a joke from where I was sat, but Moore still hasn't learnt how to look innocent) Armenia seemed to have an extra man whenever they pushed forward. They scored some good goals and well deserved it.

I disagree dependant on the FAW thinking. I think we have the talent and players there - just the management and coaching is crap.
Get rid of page and bring in someone who is refreshing and we’ll be dandy and have another generation of Wales legends.
Stick with Page we’ll be ranked 83 in no time.
-
Re: FT: WALES 2 - 4 ARMENIA. Match thread
Disagree on the golden generation bit - totally agree on the page should have gone after the World Cup bit.
-
Re: FT: WALES 2 - 4 ARMENIA. Match thread
Grim
Too many players looked like they were still on the beach.
Where was the midfield? Ramsey and Ampadu were playing hide and seek, especially when we didn’t have the ball.

What talent? Aside from Brennan Johnson and Ben Davies the rest are championship standard.
Ramsey’s legacy is in tact but it does feel like this is one tournament too far for him.

Page must must go. That was ridiculous. Again.
Whens giggs retrial? He still hasnt been convicted of anything by the way. Just saying...... :hide:

I’ve no doubt we would have been in a better position with him, he brought in new players and seem to have a plan.
Huge mistake not replacing him. Whose decision was it to give Page a new deal BEFORE
A World Cup, stupid stupid stupid.

Neco Williams, Harry Wilson, Ethan Ampadu, Dan James, David Brooks I think are premier league standard and could survive in the top flight. The rest are border line between prem and championship but I do think we have a good talented squad - just going backwards with Page at the helm

Re: FT: WALES 2 - 4 ARMENIA. Match thread
What is Page thinking with that midfield set up....
It didn't work at the WC

Apart from being factually wrong in that these players are playing in sides that play in the top flight, I think Wilson, Williams and Brooks (give him a chance) are comfortable playing in the EPL. There are a few others like Ampadu, Rodon, Mepham and James who are borderline. I think Ward is a decent keeper. Allsop is a championship (at best) keeper. Ward is better.
I'm not saying they are going to set the world alight, but they are decent, technical footballers.
The thing they are missing is guidance from a good tactician. They need someone who can motivate them.
Maybe we are miles off in terms of wages but someone like Hassenhuttl, Farke or Villas-Boas would be nice.
i doubt you'd see a performance like tonight under that calibre of manager.

Yeah its got to be remembered page would be league 2 standard at best in club football.
The FAW definitely made a boo boo by giving his contract pre world cup.

Re: FT: WALES 2 - 4 ARMENIA. Match thread
Horrendous defending.
Nothing in the sending off, keeper acting like a demented seal.
Refs in our league are too soft and give free kicks for nothing. They therefore fall down at any sign of contact. The ref was pretty bad but 2 of their goals were from our lot falling down and expecting a free kick.
-

Didn’t the second goal come from a long throw?

Whereas the sending off was annoying (Moore should know better though) I thought that the ref was decent. (I think that he ignored a dive in the build up to our first goal, for example)

Most of those players you’ve named may be owned by a Premier League club but they are squad players at best and most will probably need to move to a championship club if they want to play regular football.
